Hi Girls

How is school so far? Did you have a good winter break?
It is summer in North America. So usually we would like to take summer vacations.

I just got back from my trip to Iceland. From the name of this country, you can figure out the weather there is kind of cold and it is. Because it is located very close to the Arctic circle, the days do not go dark during summer time. But in December, it is dark for about 20 hours. I was told the cows have to go inside the barn in October and have to stay inside until May. I do not think the cows are happy about that. So it is not a good place to visit in the winter.

It is called a country of fire and ice. We saw many waterfalls, glaciers, geysers and volcanos. As an animal lover, I was excited to see the bird, Puffin and the beautiful Iceland horses.

Here is the link for you to get some more information on Iceland

http://www.visiticeland.com

Iceland is very different from Tanzania. After reading it, you probably will feel very happy that you are not living in such cold climate.

Have fun studying.

Until next time

Indy
Hello,

How have you been? As another school year comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on another successful academic year.
For fun, I’d like to share with you some interesting facts about a country that I visited with my family recently and liked it very much.
This nation is a mountainous island called Iceland located in the North-Atlantic ocean close by the Arctic Ocean. The name Iceland may not be all that appropriate because although 10% of Iceland is covered by glaciers, it has a surprisingly mild climate and countless geothermal hot-spots and hot springs. It was one of the last places on earth to be settled my humans. There are some fun facts about this country that I thought you might find amusing:
1) Iceland’s revenue from whale watching from tourists exceeds any income from whaling.
2) Mosquitoes do not exist in Iceland. For this reason alone, I love this country :)
3) The Icelandic police don’t carry guns. Crime in Iceland is very low and violent crime is practically nonexistent.
4) Because the country is so safe, they have not had to build more jails in years. As a result there is a waiting list up to 3 months to be admit to jail :)
5) Around 85% of Iceland's electricity and heating comes from hydroelectric power and geothermal water.
6) They are very proud to be the “greenest” country in the world with virtually no pollution.

I hope you will use Rachel-Pi to check out this country and their images.
Have a wonderful summer!

Hello Ladies !

Welcome back to a new school term ! I hope you had an excellent and relaxing school break.

If you have the time Madam Judy requested before your break- that you write a short essay describing your break- it can be about anything you'd like it to be: from a short story you make up, to a day spent with your friends or family, to something you learned (out of school) or someplace you went, or news you heard or a meal you made....

The goal is to have some fun and to write a short creative description about you, out of school.

Thank you, be well, send any essay you can write to Madam Judy.

Karen
Hello All,

Welcome back! Hope you had great winter break. If you had any exciting and special experience during your break, write to us. We would love to hear from you.
Mean while I wish you have a great semester. Do you best. I would like to see you make better grade this semester then last semester.
Hello Patricia,

Thank you for your question and I will try to give you my thoughts on the merits and demerits of a state to be ruled by democratic policy.

I think that when the officials that rule a country are elected in a fair and honest vote by all the people, then the chance that the government will represent the people's interest, In a sense after the election the people are choosing their own officials and if the officials are not doing their job, they can then vote them out of office, so the power to control the government lies in the thoughts of the people.

But it is a big responsibility, a lot can go wrong.

Two big ways where an election can go wrong is if money or the promise of favors are being used to buy votes, or hatred is being used to create an "us against them" voting majority.

Democracy is always an interesting experiment because it trusts that the people will make a fair choice.

Have a good exam week, and a good break!

Karen
Patricia,

Your message about the springtime's good and bad sides was very well-written. Like Judy, I hope you will keep on writing because you can express yourself clearly.

Also like Judy, I live in Palo Alto, California. One of my hobbies is birding. Palo Alto is on San Francisco Bay, which is part of the Pacific Flyway, a major migration route for birds that winter in Central and South America. It's a good area for birding, especially in spring and fall. I feel fortunate to live here.

I have been very busy myself.I attended couple conferences. It will help me to operate TSF more effectively.
I know writing is a key to be successful. I would like encourage you to write during your coming winter break. I am very interested to know what you will do during your break. When you back to school. I would like your to write that in your journal or write to me, so I will know each of you better.
Hi Karen,
It is my hope that your fine, back to my side I am well and good.
Thanks for your journal,
Today I have only a question for you, tell me the merits and demerits of a state to be ruled by democratic policy.
Wishing a great week for you.
Hello Indy,
How are you?
In my side I am more than fine.
Here in Iringa it is winter time, we are experiencing cold weather.
of cause this is my favorite season of the year, so I enjoy a lot. Summer is the season I hate the most out of all.
Other people have harvested their maize plant wile others from other area have started planting.
But coming to spring time in my place it always have two faces.
1st- it is a happy time to other people because it helps a lot in irrigation proses to those own big farms
-The rains fill dams with water so it makes hydro-electric power generation easy

2nd-when we experience a lot of rain it lead to floods
-loss of properties
-loss of peoples lives etc.
that's is some of things I have,

I have a question to you, how is the education system around there?
Hope to here from you
Hi girls

How are you?

It is spring time here in California. We have had lots of rain in the past few months. It makes our plants very happy, especially the wild flowers. There are many hiking trails full of wild flowers. I recently went to a place called 'Death Valley'. The name sounds kind of scary. But it isn't. You think Aferica is hot. A few areas in this place are below sea level and Are the hottest places in our planet in summer. Because it could be very hot and dry, if you walk in this place without water, it could be very dangerous. There are plants in the spring. When summer comes, it is dry and bare.

You can find different land formations here, desert, volcano, salt lake basin, and even a water fall. The best time to visit is in winter and spring. This year, because of the abundance of rain, the wild flowers are blooming like crazy. It is called 'super bloom' . It is spectacular to see areas after areas that were covered with wild flowers.

How is spring time in your place?

Until next time,
Indy

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.
