About

Jonathan is the fourth born child in a family of six children. He has a twin brother called Isaac Nzingi. Their parents are divorced and have deserted the children. The children live with a guardian (Florence) who takes care for them. The main challenge is that the guardian family has a big family of their own (comprised of seven children) to fend for therefore limiting their ability to support these adopted children. The first and the second born brothers of Jonathan completed form four in 2012 and 2014 through support of well-wishers. The third born is currently in form four at the Mbaikini School and is supported by the guardian family. Jonathan did his primary exam in 2014 and passed well with 323 marks and has been admitted at The Mbaikini school. Jonathan is determined to join high school despite all odds. He is aspiring to become a reputable journalist in future.

Jonathan-- So good to hear from you! I had heard from James that you are a Peace Club Ambassador. Such and excellent program. In your spare time keep reading and keep practice writing. It will help on exams. It is very hot in Maryland, although the summer is beginning to end and autumn and cooler temperatures should be coming. Public schools start next week. Keep working hard and I hope to see you in October!
Greetings sharon,
Hi mum! Pleasure to hear from you. I have learnt that you are good in hiking and running marathons. I thinking hiking and running marathons is good for physical body fitness. I will try that came next year.I have a lot of fun during peace club training and I am also happy for being a peace ambassador. I am looking forward to transform our school into an oasis of peace. My grandparents are usually happy when I am at home. I usually do chores like cultivating, cleaning the compound, looking after the cattle and so on. They have a farm of about three acres.
I would like to apologize for not updating my journal when we closed school on 4th August 2018. We are now reporting back to school today for the final term of the year. I think its a bit challenging to meet you on october, for we will be getting ready for the national exam(K.C.S.E). I am really working hard and hope my results will impress you.

Thank you very much for supporting me in my secondary education course. Actually I am very much grateful for your continuous support. My God our Lord bless you abundantly.
Thank you.

Jambo Jonathan! So good to hear from you! I was very excited to hear that you are one of the Peace Ambassadors. Last week I saw pictures of the Peace Club training and it looked like a lot of fun. I think you will make an excellent Peace Ambassador and help your fellow students with creating peaceful school communities. Currently I am in Scotland, which is part of the United Kingdom. My husband and I are "teleworking" from here which means we can do our work remotely. I've been writing a lot of grants to help raise money for the work of Kenya Connect. On the weekends we have been hiking and running half marathons. Yesterday we hiked a mountain that was 3,000 feet high! (see attached picture of the mountain we climbed). I've also had time to read and am reading a book about families in Mexico from the 1800s who move to the U.S. It's quite an interesting story. I am hoping to be in Kenya in October so I should see you then.

I am sure your grandparents are grateful for the chores you do. What kind of chores are they? Do your grandparents have a farm?

Keep working hard in school, read some books and have fun!

Dear Sharon---hope you had Merry Christmas and good ushering in of the new year 2018. The December holiday was very brilliant to me. I have been reading the National Geographic magazines and attending tuition at Kenya Connect for the normal studies. I am quite impressed that you got some good photos from us. I am looking forward to prepare you an article for a typical day of a secondary student in Kenya.
We have now come to the end of December holiday and I will be reporting back to school today for the first term of my final year in secondary school. I would like to appreciate you for your continuous support in my academics. May God bless you abundantly.
Thank you.

Jonathan--- I was so pleased to see you during my recent visit to Kenya. You and Tony did a terrific job taking pictures during the race. We got a number of excellent photos thanks to you! I've posted some on facebook and in our newsletters. I'm wondering if while you are on break, that you could write an article for me --- perhaps an article on the current elections or what a typical day is for a secondary student in Kenya. I will use it on our website. I also hope during this break that you have time to read--- perhaps reading the newspaper (ask James if you can borrow some copies from the LRC) or read some of the National Geographic magazines. When I come in March we will have some students who are interested in journalism with us-- perhaps you can join in some of the work to learn more.

Take good care and enjoy the holidays. Many blessings,
Sharon

Its my pleasure to inform you that Access class is doing good and if possible on 21st August will have the Summer Intensive program. If the country will remain in peace and harmony then will have the luck to have the program at Malindi. We praying our God to protect the country so as to remain in peace.

I am still working smart in my academics and also in reading novels. I am very thankful and grateful for you support towards my education.Thank you for the gift that you brought me. Greetings Emma and all in your family. Thank you very much. May God bless you abundantly. Bye.

Dear sharon:

Greetings,

Hi, I hope you are fine doing good so do I. Its my pleasure to inform you that we broke for our mid-term break on Friday 16th june 2017. While in school I had curriculum exposures such as sports and games and christian union challenges. Now while at home, I am helping relatives and siblings to fetch water and other chaos. We will resume back to school on Monday 26 june, 2017. I am glad to know that you will be visiting our country this week. Its my pleasure to meet you.

With all this I am also worried about the governance of our country. Current government has raised economic of Kenya such that you would acquire a commodity more than twice the price of the commodity. Which effects of corruption we do also have poor leadership. Its my hope that next general election on 8th August this year, this cases will be sort out. Before I say bye I want to wish you journey mercies as you visit our country. May the Lord bless you abundantly for continuous support to my education. Can`t wait to meet you. Bye

Thank you.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.
