About

Musyoka is the second born child in a family of three children. He is a courageous, confidant and hard-working boy who is also a talented actor filled with a great sense of humor. He has won many prizes in acting. He completed primary school at Wamunyu ABC primary school in 2013 together with his elder sister and could not proceed to high school, as their father could not afford fees for two children. Musyoka however did not give up and instead opted to repeat grade eight with high hopes of joining secondary school. He has now completed Primary education at Wamunyu ABC and was the top student with 379 marks! His father, who has been taking care of the family through a small-scale business of hawking woodcarvings, recently broke his leg while on work. He is now disabled and at home nursing the injury. This accident has badly affected the family's source of income. Musyoka's mother on the other hand is a house-help and has resulted to doing casual jobs to support the family. Musyoka's elder sister is in secondary school but most times she has stayed at home due to fees balances. Their father has been struggling to pay for her school fees. The poor background has not deterred Musyoka from pursuing his dreams. Given the opportunity to go to school, Musyoka dreams that one day he will make it to become a professional actor.

Hope you are fine. We have come home for a mid break. I hope to help my parents in house chores and do some revision.

Anthony.
Greetings,

Hope you are fine.I am now resuming to school after the long december vacation. This vacation was marked with lots of constructive activities both recreational and educational. We had a four week tuition held at kenya connect and we were free to ask our peers (alumni of this organization) questions which pose great challenge to us. We also had group discussions thus we spent a lot of time consulting them.

I also attended the annual youth seminar and I was reminded on the good morals that we youth should entail. We had a family come together and we celebrated together with my relatives. How did you celebrate this years christmas? Is Maggie off school and when will she be resuming?

Say hello to your family. Love Anthony.
Hi Anthony,

Thank you for such a sweet note, I love how happy you are and how you only reflect on positive things. You are a wonderful person and you will do many great things that will help the world in so many ways. I love that I have been able to help you in a small way, but you have accomplished so much on your own. I know you have many other supporters that love you and want only the best for you and for that I am very grateful that you have so many people in your court.

That is very exciting about your sister, I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers so that Christine might be successful in her exams. I am sure she is smart and hard working like you.
I can't wait to see a picture of your family, I hope you have lots of good occasions before your go back to school and that the rains were enough for some good crops to grow.

The kids and I just went to visit Maggie at her university and we got to go to her college's football game against University of Michigan. It was a really exciting game that Pennsylvania State University won with the largest crowd in the history of the stadium, there was almost 111,000. watching the game. My husband was in Puerto Rico helping with the restoration of the electrical system after the hurricane. Maybe your heard about the hurricanes we got this fall, Puerto Rico was severely damaged in the storms. I just attached a picture of me & the kids with our Penn State clothes on.

It has turned fall here with the leaves changing and dropping from the trees. The weather is getting a little cooler so it's clear winter is on it's way.

Say hello to your family, it was lovely hearing from you. God Bless you Anthony, you made my day with your note! Maggie also said she almost cried with your sweet words! Love, Laura
Hi Laura,

Let me take this auspicious opportunity first of all to thank God for this far that He has brought me. Memories of the day when I got admitted to secondary school are still vivid and I remember very well seeing the four years as a burden and a decade of years but thanks to God soon I'll be through. As the saying goes time and tide waits for no man, I can really attest to that.

When I look back and see where I have come from, where I am and the far i'm going I always thank God. Truly I'm a credit to you Laura. To me Laura you a very special person actually my source of light. I do not know how to put this across but you've helped me and may God bless you abundantly.

My older sister Christine will be sitting for her final examination this year and how I pray that she is going to succeed. She will be sitting for the exam in a week's time. The vacation will last for two months and some weeks and I look forward to help my parents and also to doing some revision. I will soon sent you the pictures of my family probably in a week's time.

Before I join the university,I'll take the first two terms teaching in my former primary school, for this is a must to all the students who have gone through the school fund under Kenya Connect partnership.I always dream doing my further studies abroad and If this happens I will be pleased to live with your family during my breaks. Pass my greetings to your family and I wish Maggie all the best! Love Anthony!
Hi Musyoka,

Oh that is interesting about the election. But not too much violence which is good right?

What are you thinking you want to do next year when you are done? James told me you were really bright and would have a lot of options for your future. Are you going to go to University in Kenya or look to go to school over seas? I mentioned to James that if you could get accepted in a US University, you could live with my family during your breaks. You would need scholarships to go to the colleges, but at least you would have a home to come home to on breaks.

I am so happy for you and proud of course of your accomplishments. Maggie has been at her university for almost two weeks and is starting to make friends and is getting herself settled into her college life. Her course load is really hard since she is going for engineering, but she is saying that she is up for the challenge.

We are going to see her this weekend and watch a college american football game. The stadium holds 100,000 people which is crazy, but lots of fun. We are tailgating before the game, which just means picnicking outside your car before the game starts. I am looking forward to seeing her. Pass my greetings onto your family, I think Ive connected with your Mom on Instagram or maybe it's really you? Anyway, it is kind of fun! I want to see a picture of your whole family. I hope all is well, take care! Love Laura!
Hi Laura
Nice to hear from you. I'm pleased to say that i had a nice holiday with much fun ever. This is because my parents had happy birthday since they all were b on on this month of August. I also had enough time doing my revision not forgetting the most fruitful tuition that had been arranged by James. I will be completing my secondary school education next year so I'm striving day and night consulting my teachers and peers. As i resume to school i pray that i will remain determined and focused to my studies. i also promise you that i will work extra hard to achieve the best of my results. We had nice time in the election, but unfortunately the opposition party wasn't pleased with the election, so they had to make an appeal and their petitions are yet to be examined. Nice time with your family and pass my greetings to Liam,Lily,Maggie and their Dad. Lots of love Laura!!!!!!!!!
Hi Musyoka,

It was so wonderful to have met you, I can't believe what a wonderful young man you have grown into. James tells me how smart you are & have such a great future ahead of you! Maggie & I loved to get to know you a little when we were visiting. We love Kenya, the people are the nicest people I've met in the world. So glad you like the shirt and that it fits, I was worried it was too big. It's hard to gage the size.

Lily, Liam and my husband Michael are on vacation at the beach in New Jersey. The kids are enjoying their break from school, it's three months long. This is the only long break all year. The kids typically get off for Christmas for a week and a half and a week at Easter but that's it all year. They generally go 9 months to school with only those breaks until the summer. So we are enjoying ourselves.

I loved meeting you in person, it was the high light of my trip. Thanks for your note & pictures. Enjoy your break with your family. Love you, Laura

Hi Musyoka,

I hope too come visit you. I will contact Kenya Connect to make sure that happens. I did hear about your adventure in the Karura Forest, sounds fun& interesting. We are just supporting Maggie with her final exams. She just had her senior prom this past weekend which is a big dance when they dress up & wear long dresses and tuxedos for the boys & go to a nice place for a dance. That was fun, we had a lot of the kids over our house to get ready before the dance to take pictures. She walks across the stage for graduation to get her diploma on May 22 and we have relatives coming in for a party on May 27th to celebrate with her. Liam my son turns 16 on the 22nd too. My father who turns 80 this year is playing in the senior olympics the beginning of June for basketball. So busy times in the Sullivan household. We have also just begun preparing for Kenya. I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
