About
Uganda Martyr's High School is home to a passionate group of student entrepreneurs. While the majority of students receive help with school fees from parents or other family members, many struggle to afford school. Educate!'s after-school Student Business Club has given Uganda Martyr's High School students the tools to empower themselves through entrepreneurship and leadership skill-building. These students now sell juice, liquid soap and snacks to fellow students and the local community, and many of the club members have started their own individual businesses. Daphne is one student who was motivated by Educate! to create an enterprise. Despite discouragement and being told by community members that it was "not something a girl should do," Daphne began making and selling shoe polish. Now, she has proven that she can make a profit and has reinvested her earnings to grow her business and support her educational expenses.
