Dear Students,

Happy New Year 2017, congratulations on preparing for your exams and welcome back to school !

Here is a thought to begin the year on;

"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives".

Henry David Thoreau

be well,

Dear Students
In my last letter to you, I asked many of you who were your favorite teachers, and what famous person inspired you.
Your answers were interesting. Although many different teachers were named, you all seemed to appreciate the same quality in them. You said you could understand them. I think these must be teachers who help you understand the subjects, and it is important to them that you understand.
Many of you named your President, John Pombe Magufuli, as the famous person who most inspired you. I looked him up in Wikipedia. He is indeed an honorable man. He advocates hard work, and he does not tolerate corruption in his government officials. So you see YOU inspired ME to learn something new.

Thank you for being such hard working students. I think of you often.

Susan

Hello Witness
I think of you all often, and hope you have settled into your studies now, and are enjoying school.
Our summer is almost over. The days are still sunny, but not as hot, and the nights are cooler.
I have rented my house to another family for a month, and will live in San Francisco for that time.
I lived in San Francisco when I was a little older than you, and now I want to see it again. I want to walk all over the city with my camera, wander and photograph what I see. That, to me, is heaven.

I hope you like your teachers and classmates and are inspired to study hard. I’d love to hear who are your favorite teachers, and why, and what are your favorite subjects. It would be fun to hear who are the famous people who inspire you to do your best.

Looking forward to hearing from you in your journals. Susan Bradley

Hello,

How have you been? As another school year comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on another successful academic year.
For fun, I’d like to share with you some interesting facts about a country that I visited with my family recently and liked it very much.
This nation is a mountainous island called Iceland located in the North-Atlantic ocean close by the Arctic Ocean. The name Iceland may not be all that appropriate because although 10% of Iceland is covered by glaciers, it has a surprisingly mild climate and countless geothermal hot-spots and hot springs. It was one of the last places on earth to be settled my humans. There are some fun facts about this country that I thought you might find amusing:
1) Iceland’s revenue from whale watching from tourists exceeds any income from whaling.
2) Mosquitoes do not exist in Iceland. For this reason alone, I love this country :)
3) The Icelandic police don’t carry guns. Crime in Iceland is very low and violent crime is practically nonexistent.
4) Because the country is so safe, they have not had to build more jails in years. As a result there is a waiting list up to 3 months to be admit to jail :)
5) Around 85% of Iceland's electricity and heating comes from hydroelectric power and geothermal water.
6) They are very proud to be the “greenest” country in the world with virtually no pollution.

I hope you will use Rachel-Pi to check out this country and their images.
Have a wonderful summer!

Hello,
My name is Sunny and I am a new community outreach volunteer to The School Fund and I will be assisting Judy with all the students in your school. I have known this organization since its inception and have helped the founder, Matt, and his team with many events to introduce their good work to the community, both locally and world-wide. I am excited to participate in the organization and fulfill my desire to communicate and work directly with the students. Please feel free to send me a note to get to know each other and to share some stories and some school and life experiences. I look forward to hearing from you. Take good care.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.
