About

Class Rank: My most difficult experience I had early in my life is when I failed my examination. I learn that I have to take education seriously by studying hard in order to pass exams with good grade. I love science subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. By studying hard on those courses, I will fulfill my dream of becoming an engineer. My happiest moment is when I passed the national examination. After I fulfill my dream of becoming engineer, my plan is to give back to my community. I will build a school for children who are financially disadvantaged. I also plan to donate some amount of my salary to the School Fund.

Dear students:

Welcome to TSFTZ family!

My name is Jenny Chen, I am a retired software engineer. I work for TSFTZ as a volunteer staff. In 1976 I came to United States from Taiwan to study Math. I live in San Francisco area most of the time with my grownup children close by. However I travel back to Taiwan very often since most of my family members are still there.

Education helps me achieve my current good living standard. I echo TSF’s motto: “Education is an investment in the future”. Our team is devoted to help school-aged children stay in school, especially girls’ education. We encourage our students to write to us so we get to know each other better. We read each journal entry enthusiastically and response accordingly because we CARE.

TSFTZ team expects each sponsored student study hard and be successful! It is my privilege to write to you. I am looking forward to work with you.

-Jenny
Happy New Year 2016 !

With this post I am writing to send you my wish that the New Year is a bright one for you; successful, healthy and happy.

I would like it if you could write me back to tell me of how you spent your time over the long school break; of your family and friends, your activities and your thoughts.

be well,
Karen
Hello Everyone,

As a year comes to close, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I am very proud of each of you knowing that you have worked hard to achieve academic success despite under difficult circumstances.

You inspire me greatly and are an example of what hard work and determination can bring to one’s future.

We have worked hard in the US to raise money for your education, and nothing would make me happier seeing you take full advantage of the scholarship from The School Fund to fulfill your educational dreams in the future, whatever profession or objective that may be.

Study hard and make your dreams come true. Have a fantastic 2016!

Your friend,
Jonathan G.
Dear Hamza,
Life is a forever learning. As a matter of fact I learn a lot from you too. Prior to TSFTZ I really know nothing much about Tanzania. From talking to the TSFTZ students I open my eyes. I hope some day I will go with Judy to visit this beautiful country!
I spent my early part of 20 years in Taiwan, then I went to USA to study and stay there. I am privileged to have the opportunity to experience both the eastern and western cultures. Very different, each has its pluses and minuses. Most of my family members are still at Taiwan, so I return to visit them more often after I retired. With the information technology so advanced, I can still communicate with my husband and children very often via video phone call. Isn't it amazing!
I enjoy reading your journal, please continue write to me. All TSFTZ staffs care a lot about the sponsored students. We like to hear from you very much.

Dear Hamza,
Happy to read your journal. You are absolutely correct that Science and Math are the foundations of any engineering field. You will reach your goal as long as you study hard. Remember genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration.
I feel privileged to be part of the TSFTZ team. I enjoy writing to you all and read your journals. I want to help and provide positive guidance.

Hello Jenny
Yes I need to make changes in my country , studying hard the science subject and mathematics we help me to achieve this ambition,
I'm glad to hear that you have retired after being a serious computer engineer and your help on the school find makes us feel proud of you in every steps we take in our daily life, I hope i will perform very well and I give the help to other student in the world so that Their dream can become true and student smile just like i do
I wish you happy on teacher's celebration
Dear Hamza,
I respect your goal of wanting to bring changes to your country. For my choice of being computer engineer was strictly based on the job market then. I majored in Mathematics and minored in Computer Science. There were a lot of well paid computer engineering jobs.
As Judy spent a lot of effort making the MMM center open most of the time for students, please take advantage on her offering, utilize that powerful study tool -> Rachel PI system.
September 28 is the birthday of the great Chinese philosophizer/teacher: Confucius. It is also our national Teacher's day. We celebrate it to show our appreciation to our teachers. Do you have Teacher's day over there?
-Jenny
It is nice to see most of you already went to the computer center to update your journal. I know all of you had a great break. It is already half way on in your second semester. Two more months before this school year is going to end. I wish you all to try your best. I know you all can do it.

In your summer assignment you wrote that you will study hard so you could reach your dream. It is true that your future is in your own hands, and your own destination is how you are going to work on your goals and reach them. People could recommend that you do some things and they can help you in some way, but you are the only person that can make the your dream come true. Any step you take, you are one step close to your dream. I want to see you all work hard to reach your next destination.

As the people who fund your education we want to know you. The only way we have to know you are through your journals.

Please write in your journal, so that we can know you better. You can write about your daily life, your school, your friends, what subjects you are studying now. What is your favorite subject and why do you like it, and so on. We want to know your hopes and dreams. Or write us anything at all that you want us to know about.

I want you all to be outstanding people in my mind, each of you separate and special. If you are just a name in a group, there is no way for me to know you.

I know some of you are going to have your National Exam. I pray for you and wish you the best.
When I was your age. I was the same as you.. I worked for everything I needed and wanted.
I never gave up. I knew if I just tried hard and never lost my hope that I would make it.

I did talk to Mr. Amos, and Mr. Paulo, they said MMM center (computer center) will be open any time. You can drop by to study the subject you are interested in from the RACHEL PI.

Everybody can be successful if they are self learners. The more knowledge you have the more successful you will be. Everything on this earth comes and goes, only an Education will be with you and nobody can take it away from you.
Hello Jenny
I hope your are doing well and i am happy to receive your message.if you help me in my education i hope i will study very hard, i like to be a engineer because i wanna bring revolution in our country?I hope you also did before you retired,is it?
Hamza
hello Jenny,
I hope you are doing well and I'm happy to receive your message,
i am fun andre
Hello,

I just want to say hello to all of you.
My name is Judy Severson.
My son Matthew Severson began The School Fund (TSF) in 2009 when he was at University.
After he graduated from University, he started to work full time. It was then that he asked me to help TSF in Tanzania.

We were really lucky to get help from the Chairman and President Mr. Fuad, the Chief Operation Officer Mr. Amos in Iringa, our local representative Mr. Paulo in Karatu and
all the local headmaster/headmistress and teachers. Without their help we will not be able to support all the TSF students in Tanzania.
I thank all of them very much for all of their support.

I am very glad we are able to help to pay much of your school fees, so you can continue your education. Keep up the good work! I hope one day you can reach your dream.

I brought RACHEL-PI systems for all the schools and I hope that you use them to help you study. The content on RACHEL-PI can provide a lot of additional information for you to learn.
I hope your new semester is successful and joyful.

With my best wishes,
Judy

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.
