My name is Baltazary. The most difficult experience I had in my life is the poverty due to my mother not being able to earn enough from farming to support all that our family of two children requires. So we must ask for aid from other people. My dream after finishing Form 6 is to go to university and become a lawyer. The moment that makes me proud and happy is when I passed the Standard seven and Form four National Exams. Because I passed those exams, I can be a Form five student now. After I graduating from university, I would like to teach people about issues of law, and to obey the laws of our country. Also I will ensure that when I get a job, I will use the money to help our family out of poverty by giving my parents aid. I will help more students like me who need help to reach their dreams.

Dear Students,

A few years ago I came across a list consisting of some habits that are good to get into. I have incorporated these good habits into my daily life and I’d like to share them with you. I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

1. Sleep early, around 9pm - 10pm. After working hard through the day, your body and mind need refreshing. Rest them as soon as possible.
2. Wake up early, around 5am - 6am. Start your day early. That time is the best time for inspiration to come in. After wake up, face the sky and the sun through your window. You will be motivated.
3. Be independent. Do your tasks by yourself. Solve your problem by yourself. Don’t always depend on other people. This doesn’t mean you should not get help from others.
4. Say thank you. Always say those 2 words if you get help from others.
5. Reading. Motivation and inspiration comes from what your eyes scanning for.
6. Writing. Put down in words on things that come to your head. Try to write 1 article per day. Having a diary is also a good approach.
7. Walking. Let sport always get into your day. The simplest one is walking. Keep moving and stay healthy.
8. Meditate. Focus on what you are doing. Finish it first and move to the other one. Don’t do multitasking. You can also meditate by sitting calmly and paying attention to your breath.
9. Help other people. Help people as they need and you are capable of doing it.

Dear Students,

I love to collect wisdom from different sources that are meaningful to me.
Below are a few of my favorites that I would like to share with you:

1) When you master your emotions, you master your life
Anger. This is one emotion that is sure to pop up sometime during the day. How you deal with your anger says a lot about who you are as a person. How well do you manage your emotions? Do you have a harsh reaction if someone says something insulting to you? Anger can be a destructive emotion if not managed properly.

2) Respect other people’s opinions even when they differ from your own.

Conflict. It’s rare that two people agree on most topics. Conflict is everywhere. It happens at work, home, with family and friends. Disagreeing isn’t the problem (although most people think it is). The problem is not giving value to the opinions of others.

3) Experience The Joy Of Learning
Each time you learn something new you gain more knowledge and with more knowledge come more confidence. Learning helps us become more adaptable and flexible to new situations. Learning encourages us to be more creative and innovative in our thinking and we are therefore more comfortable with the unknown.
Reading books is a great way for us to learn. To fully embrace the joy of learning, never stop reading and searching for more knowledge.

4) Touch someone’s soul with your kindness
Random Acts of Kindness. It’s the little things in life that matter most. Hold a door, smile at people. Kindness does not cost much and it touches the soul of another person.

5) Speech is a powerful tool.
Your words. Watch your words carefully. They can be daggers or building blocks. You can crush the spirit of someone or make them feel like they can conquer the world. Taste your words before you spit them out. Words are your thoughts coming to life. It’s your choice.

Population Policy
This refers to measures which re intended to change the fertility ,mortality and economic growth rates to acceptable levels.
Family Planning Methods and Devices
Family planning is the process by which couples or single women use artificial and other methods of contraceptives to regulate their fertility in such a way that they will have children only when want to have them and have the number of children that are desired
The methods and devices are as follows:
1. The pills which when taken, stops ovalation and makes the lining of the uterus antagonistic to sperms
2. Intra-uterine contraceptive device (IUCD) also Known as Loop. This is a plastic coil that is inserted in the uterus and rendors the sperms ineffective
3. The Condom which is a thin rubber sheath worn by male during sexual intercourse and preventing sperms from penetrating into the uterus
4. The Rhythm method whereby the couple do not engage in sexual relation during the days when the woman is likely to conceive.
5. Withdrawal method, where by the male withdraws at climax to avoid the entry of his sperms into the uterus
6. Sterilization .In the case of the woman is known as publication .This is where by the woman is operated so that she will not conceive. Likewise, a man can also be operated so that he will never fertilize a woman .In the case of man the operation is known as vasectomy
Aims of family planning Programme
1. To reduce the number of dependants
2. Protecting and Improving the quality of life and health of woman and children
3. Reduce the Incidence of illegal abortion
4. Alleviating poverty and promoting the social welfare of the people
5. Protecting the human rights of women in their child bearing years
6. Reducing the number of miscarriage among women caused illegal abortion

Hello students,

I finally got back to the US last week.
It has been a very long trip to Tanzania this year total three weeks.

I was very happy to meet all of you and know everyone better.

My trip started from Karatu. I visited 5 schools in Karatu and I learn where do you go to school every day.

I am very happy to know all of you are doing well and every of you has a dream that you want to be successful one day. I encourage all of you to try your best to reach you own destination.

The get together was so well prepared and done by each of you. I am very happy to saw all your science presentations and poems you wrote to TSF and me. I will treasure them all my life.

I can say I am very proud to all of you. Keep up the good work I want to see each of you one day get to
good University/College to reach your own dream.

After Karatu, I went to ARUSHA attended the TED Global conference and visited couple schools in ARUSHA.
I enjoyed the TED conference this year. It was focused on the Africa, specially in agriculture, health and education.

Mr. Amos was a volunteer there, he had great experience being this Global conference and met people from around the world.
He had a life experience at the conference, where he was able to meet a group of bright inventive and talented group of people.

Later I went to Iringa. Iringa almost the second hometown for me. I have been there six times.
I visited all 8 schools in Iringa and meet all of you in person. I was very happy to meet you.

I had a great time at the get together party. All of you did a wonderful presentation. I am very happy to know all of you had fun that night.

My this year Tanzania trip was set MMM computer center for most of the 13 TSF schools.
At Iringa, We build total 5 new computer center in Iringa girls, Klerruu, Lugalo, Ebenezer, Miyomgoni and Update one MMM center at Ummusalama. We build one new computer center at Karatu Secondary School and update one MMM center at Ganako.

I am very proud of building the MMM computer center in most of the TSF schools. I really want all of you to go to the computer center to learn every subject you are interested from the RACHEL PLUS.
In the future everyone work will be on the computer. I hope that every single of you tell me what do you learn from the RACHEL PLUS.
I would like you could to start the debate team in your school so you all could practice how to speak in the public. Have the Math Club and challenge each other on the Math.

They will all benefit your long-term confidence.

Hello Karen. I am very well. Do you know the history of the ngoni in Africa? Let me share about it
Ngoni belong to the Bantu speaking group who migrated from the Niger Congo to South Africa and settled to the South East of the Drakensburg Mountains. They are the last Bantu speakers to settle in East Africa due to the Mfecane. They fled to the North by around 1820s. They were close relative of the Zulu. They moved from South Africa to East Africa defeating and absorbing various groups of people such as Chewa, Shona, Nsanga and some of these groups become the Ngoni. They crossed River Zambezi in 1835 and finally reached Ufipa in 1840. They were in several groups such as Mpenzane led by Mpenzane and reached at Ufipa and settled in the present day Zambia. Mbelwa Ngoni led by Mbelwa went to North of Malawi. Chimswere group went and settled at Domira bay in Malawi; Another were Watuta group called Mutambarika led by Mpangala. This group went up to Unyamwezi followed by Zulu Mbonane who settled at Songea. Mpepo settled at Kilosa and Ulanga and Miandika group settled at Mozambique. Zwangedaba the great leader of the Ngoni was born in 1785 and died in Mapupo in 1845
Causes of Ngoni migration
1: External pressure; This was due to Shaka’s expansion policy: TShaka the founder of the Zulu nation waged war on his neighbouring states forcing them to migrate. They were caught up in the process of Empire building by force. This Shaka was very cruel to the Ngoni and as a solution Ngoni opt to migrate to the North.
2: The population pressure among the Ngoni; This was mainly experienced in the South East of the Drakensburg Mountains. This caused inter clan and inter tribal conflicts in the region. This kind of insecurity forced the Ngoni to move North ward.
3: The need of land; The Ngoni were interested in fertile land for crop cultivation. In the South there were Zulu who were advancing North and East there was Indian Ocean and in the West there was Drakensburg Mountains. The land was only available in the North of the Natal and that is why they migrate to the North.
4: Boer expansion; Since the Ngoni’s economy depended on land they need to expand south wards but their expansion was difficult due to expansion of Boers Northward. These forced the Boers to expand to the North and conquered weaker societies.
5: Diseases like small pox, malaria and sleeping sickness are also assumed to have been the reason behind the Ngoni migration.
Reasons for the Success of the Ngoni Migration
The Ngoni managed to defeat the societies they met with relative ease because;
1. During their movement they always captured young men and women. The young men served as warriors and women as wives. This meant that the Ngoni always had a large force compared to their enemies.
2. The Ngoni had an outstanding military organization inherited from Shaka. They divided their army into fighting units called impis .
3. They also had a strong standing army that was always ready to crush the enemy. They also had an age set system as the basis of their military regiments
4. They were also equipped with superior weapons compared to the people they met. Such weapons included the Assegai (short stabbing spear) and large cow-hide shields.
5. They had good military tactics of attacking their enemies like the cow - horn tactic which enabled them to encircle their enemies easily.
6. They also preferred fighting in the open and barefooted which facilitated easy mobility. They also carefully planned each battle.
7. Most of the Ngoni enemies were weak and small societies that were organized on a clan basis and therefore could not challenge the military might of the Ngoni. These societies were also disuniting and often at war with each other
8. Societies that could have resisted the Ngoni invasion were always attacked unprepared. This was because the Ngoni used surprise attacks.
9. The Ngoni always used the scorched earth policy on those that tried to resist them, e.g. burning villages, food stores and gardens. This kind of severe treatment scared small societies forcing them to flee on seeing them.
10. Unlike other tribes, the Ngoni fighters were professionally trained and free of any work. This meant that their entire lives were dedicated to fighting.
11. The Ngoni had great experience in large scale warfare which many of the interior tribes lacked. The many wars they had fought gave them immunity to small bloodshed.
12. The Ngoni commanders kept the morale of the army high by promising them rewards after victory hence making them work harder.
13. The Ngoni fighters were also loyal and united under their leaders and commanders.
14. They were also aggressive and determined because they could not go back to South Africa in case of defeat. They therefore, had to fight hard to ensure that they remained in East Africa.
15. The Ngoni warriors were not affected by famine because they always looted for food wherever they passed.
16. The long march from South Africa (almost 2000 miles) gave them military discipline and strong endurance.

The effects of Ngoni migration
The Ngoni migration affected not only South Africa but Central and East Africa politically, economically and socially. These effects are as follows.
1: Destruction of properties; Villages which attempted to resist the Ngoni were set on fire. This caused mass killing and because of that Ngoni managed to organize their battle in all regions they passed through. Thus several communities split into smaller several groups.
2: New military techniques were adopted; With the coming of Ngoni new technique of war was employed. For example short stabbing spears, hand to hand fighting and cow horn formation. About 30 Hehe states led by Munyigumba adopted Ngoni’s techniques. This method was later on used to fight against invaders from the outside.
3: The introduction of new culture; Ngoni introduced new ways of keeping laws and order to the societies they met. The subdued people were absorbed into new communities with new language, customs, traditional and beliefs.
4: Displacement of many people; Many people were displaced from their original places. Whenever the Ngoni settled the indigenious were forced to migrate to new areas for settlement. The Ngoni were interested in fertile land with reliable rainfall. All the land with such characteristics was confiscated by the Ngoni.
5: Creation of centralized military states: Several weak military states were organized into powerful states. The Holoholo and Mwakawangu were the best examples. The Hehe and Munyigumba were unified with the help of military tactics of Ngoni. States such as Ndebele were also formed in Central Africa.
6: Mobilization of frequent attack on many societies of South, Central and East Africa. Most of the societies were in the fear of being attacked and conquered. The Ngoni raided caravans and destroyed many villages and waged constant wars. They killed, destructed, stole and plundered various areas.
7: Creation of new innovative leadership: The history of 19th c witnessed a new leadership in East and Central Africa. For example, Munyigumba, Nyungu ya Mawe and Mirambo.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.
