About

In our family we are seven people; father, mother my siblings and me. My father is a casual labourer and my mother is a housewife. We always survive with the little income that my father is getting. It's always challenging more so when we are sent home every now and again for school fees. Teachers have been very supportive to my side .The relatives too have been giving support but couldn't do enough. It even sometimes forces us to engage myself in casual jobs to help me support my parents. I usually feel like a parent since my parents are away working and I am looking after the other children. I work hard to keep my siblings fed. I became a star pupil after becoming no.1 in my school. I thank SUN, especially Kennedy and Jessica and Hillary, for this scholarship opportunity.

My name is Cheryl Misenya from Moi Girls Nairobi and I am in form 4. It is my fourth year in school through the help of SHOFCO, My parents do not have stable jobs and we are barely surviving, were it not for this program I would not have been in school. Challenges have been there in school being a national school, most students come from rich families and are financially stable unlike me who at times miss some essentials even though my parents try hard to provide. My best achievement has been good performance, i have always worked hard and was aiming to get an A GRADE. The Covid-19 has really affected us but I am thankful to be back in school now.

Raymond is the firstborn in a family of two. He lives with his mother and grandparents. He has been raised by a single parent, his mother. His mother has been supporting the family through casual jobs. Raymond dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon in future because he wants to help people with mental problems. Also, there are few neurosurgeons in the country. He is very outgoing and enjoys drawing to improve his skills. Despite the challenges he faced, he believed in hard work and emerged as the best student in his school. For sure, hard work never goes unrewarded.
