About

Elim is from the community of Llanchu, above Calca, in the Sacred Valley of Peru. Elim hopes to study Hotel Administration at a post-secondary institute in Cusco, and to one day become a role-model in her community and employ graduates from the Mosqoy Youth Program. She also wishes to use the knowledge and tools she gains to support her mother, who makes beautiful textiles. Elim is currently working hard to pass the entrance exams, as she is facing a lot of competition from her fellow peers, as well as classmates who had better access to high-school education. We are supporting her at every step of the way and providing her with preparatory academies and tutors.

Hello dear donors, my name is Elim. I am from the community of Llanchu.

I am currently studying in my fourth semester of university and I like it because I am learning many new things and also have new friends who always help me when I need it. Still, it is always exhausting, mainly because of the homework and exams.

This year was full of happy memories both at Casa Mosqoy, in university and with my family. In addition to the fact that this year was the one in which I returned to face-to-face classes and learned things in a different way and no longer just virtually, I met my classmates and teachers at the university. At Casa Mosqoy, I learned a lot with my classmates such as sculpture, public speaking, financial education, etc. which are very helpful in my life and academic performance.

I am very grateful for your donations, which are helping me to continue my studies, and I hope that in the future I can support the development of my community and perhaps I can also help young people fulfill their dreams.

Dear donors, I hope you are well. I am Elim Lima Conza, currently a fourth semester student at the National University of San Antonio Abad in Cusco. As you already know, I am studying education in the specialty of Language and Literature, so my passion for books has increased. I am currently starting my fourth semester and also I am having a good time with my friends and teachers who are teaching me many important and interesting things for my degree.

Hello, my name is Elim. I am from the community of Llanchu, in the district and province of Calca. I am currently one of the Mosqoy students and I am studying education [to become a teacher] with a specialty in languages and literature, at the National University of San Antonio Abad in Cusco. I am in my second semester.

During the time that I have been in Mosqoy, it has been a good experience for me, because those at Mosqoy have given me the opportunity to continue with my higher education and fulfill one of my goals, which is to be a professional and thus be able to help my community move forward - because not many communities in the high Andes can access higher education. In Mosqoy, I have been learning many things that will be useful to me in life. I also share many unforgettable moments with all the members of Mosqoy. In order for us to continue with our dreams, in order for us to support our communities, we need your help.
With your donations, you can help make our dreams come true.

Thank you.

Dear donors,

I hope you are well. I am Elim Lima Conza from the community of Llanchu. I am currently studying Education, specializing in language and literature at the National University of San Antonio Abad in Cusco, better known as UNSAAC.

This year, so far, has been good because I managed to meet one of my goals, which is to enter university, for which I had to study hard. In May I started my classes at the university virtually. There were times when I went to the university to meet my faculty and my classmates, and it was very exciting. As for my teachers, some are very strict and others are good. Personally, I like my math teacher because she teaches very well. I can understand the topics easily, and the subject that I don't like is Political Constitution and Human Rights because my teacher is too strict. I'm afraid of making mistakes because if she doesn't give me a bad grade or call me out, but the good thing is that I'm already finishing the semester with less than a month to go, I just hope to finish it with good grades.

Well, I wanted to thank you for your support. A big hug from afar.
Thank you,
Elim

Gracias,
Elim

Dear Donor,

This year, things haven’t been at all easy for anyone because of the pandemic and political crisis in my country. The price for everyday goods has gone up, so for me and my mother this has been difficult. But not everything is bad. Fortunately this year, I am with my family and in the city of my birth. Also, I’m preparing for my admission exam in April. The topics I’m studying are a bit difficult because everything is virtual. I really miss in-person classes because I could ask questions about my doubts and also share my ideas with my classmates. But now, it’s not so easy.

I would like to be a language teacher because I really enjoy languages. Now I am improving my knowledge of math. When I started with virtual classes, for me it was very frustrating and stressful because I felt that my concentration and learning was getting worse, but now I believe I’m improving.

In regards to my dreams for next year, I want to enter university. Also, I want to improve my English and finally I would like for my mother to start treatment for her sicknesses. Because of the pandemic, there hasn’t been the possibility of receiving treatments.

Dear donors, I sincerely thank you for your help. Perhaps without your help, my life would be very different. I couldn’t dream about going to university or simply about studying something. I will continue working hard in my studies so that I can be a person capable of making my community a better place.
Dear Donor,

I am pleased to speak with you. My dream has always been to be a professional and study in university because I want to improve myself. When I was little, I liked to listen to music in other languages. It made me curious about what the words meant. One of my dreams is to learn other languages like English. For this reason, I would like to study tourism, but in these past few years, this career hasn’t been very beneficial for professionals in this career path, so I decided to study another career, which is business administration. I selected this because I would like to have my own business. Despite choosing another career, I have not put aside my dream of learning languages.

During the pandemic, it was a bit difficult for me and my mother. When the quarantine was declared, my mother didn’t have much money. In addition, we were in Cusco because I was going to take an exam and my mother was starting a job. During those days, I stayed with an aunt. We went to one of the communities of the San Jeronimo district. Thanks to my aunt and cousins, we could survive the quarantine. We finished the obligated social isolation, and then we could return to our home in the district of Calca. My mother started to work while my aunt offered me a job tutoring my cousin. Now, I am teaching, and thanks to this situation, I have realized that I would also like to be a teacher. The act of clearing a child’s doubts or helping a child or cousin to learn gives me satisfaction.

Also, I have been studying and reviewing topics for university admissions. I am doing this because I don’t want to forget the topics. I am doing my best to maintain my academic knowledge. This pandemic has made me feel anguished and stressed just because of not studying in-person and not being with my relatives (like my grandmother) and my friends. Unfortunately, this virus killed my high-school teacher whom I love and appreciate very much. He taught me a lot of things and gave me advice. I couldn’t go to his funeral or burial, which made me feel very sad.

I appreciate that you have read this letter.

Estimado donante,

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
