About

Castigo was born in the city of Beira, Sofala province, on April 25, 2007, where he lived with his parents. He is a well-behaved boy and likes to play football with friends. During his free time, he reviews school subjects and helps his mother with the house duties. His father died in 2011, victim of illness, while working in Mozambique's post office in the mailbox sector in Beira. Castigo has 1 brother and 1 sister and they are all studying. His mother sells fruits in front of the house and receives a little pension from her late husband but it has not been enough to support the family. He lives with his mother and the house consists of 2 bedrooms, an outside bathroom and has piped drinking water. Castigo preferred subject is Portuguese and he wants to become a Teacher. During 2020, due to COVID 19, the students had to study at home, going weekly to the school to buy brochures and copies of tests. Most of the kids could not afford it.

Dear Sponsors,
First of all, I wish you a happy and healthy New Year 2024. I entered well together with my family.
I am ready for my last year of secondary school and will give my best to finish it with great marks.
During 2023 I studied hard and passed to the 12th grade with positive marks. In 2024 I will study at Escola Secundária Mateus Sansão Mutemba.
This year, I will do my very best to study even harder to end my secondary level nicely.

His mother has been supporting the family through casual jobs. Raymond dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon in future because he wants to help people with mental problems. Also, there are few neurosurgeons in the country. He is very outgoing and enjoys drawing to improve his skills. Despite the challenges he faced, he believed in hard work and emerged as the best student in his school. For sure, hard work never goes unrewarded.
