Fernando was born in the city of Beira, Sofala province, on October 28, 2005, where he lived with his parents. He is a well-behaved and intelligent boy and likes to play football with his friends. During his free time, he reviews school subjects and does help with house duties. Fernando’s mother died on January 1 2012, victim of illness. She used to work as a domestic worker in the Macuti area. He has 1 sister named Helena who studies in grade 5. His father does little jobs in the area where he lives. What he earns is not enough to support the family. Fernando lives with his father in their house that consists of 2 bedrooms and has an outside bathroom and has piped drinking water. His preferred subject at school is Portuguese and his dream is to become a Civil Engineer. During 2020, due to COVID 19, the students had to study home, going weekly to the school to buy brochures and copies of tests. Most of the kids could not afford it.

  • Padre

Padre excelled in primary school and was ranked number four in his class. However, with six children to take care of, his family struggles to make ends meet. There are very few resources at home and they often do not have enough food to feed their children. Since none of Padre’s older siblings had the opportunity to go to secondary school, he hopes to be the first in his family to graduate so that he can give back to his family and his community.
