About

I am a student at Makuyu Boys School, and formerly attended Love Africa Somi School. I come from a very poor background and could not manage the high school fees. As a family, we have challenges getting our basic needs met. Both of my parents are jobless and we live hand-to-mouth. If it were not for this scholarship, I would not be in school. This means a great deal to our family and reduces the burden. I am so grateful for this opportunity.

I am now in Form 2 at Makuyu High School, and have been earning good marks. It was a challenge to adapt to boarding life but I am doing well now. I am working hard towards my dream of becoming a lawyer.

Raymond is the firstborn in a family of two. He lives with his mother and grandparents. He has been raised by a single parent, his mother. His mother has been supporting the family through casual jobs. Raymond dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon in future because he wants to help people with mental problems. Also, there are few neurosurgeons in the country. He is very outgoing and enjoys drawing to improve his skills. Despite the challenges he faced, he believed in hard work and emerged as the best student in his school. For sure, hard work never goes unrewarded.
