About

Born in 1994 in Yathui, Japheth is the last born child in a family of two. His mother is a single parent and earns a living through casual jobs like sanding woodcarvings to support her children. The family live in a rented house in the Yathui market. Through his mother's meager earnings, they struggle to meet their basic needs. During weekends and holidays, Japeth helps his mother in her work. His academic performance is outstanding. He is also a well behaved student. For Japheth, education is a tool to overcome the challenges of the world and he hopes to get a good education to support his family and serve the community.

Anne,
I am always happy to read your journals. We are eagerly waiting for our final exams in high school, which are due to start on Friday 26th October. We have engaged ourselves in group discussions to work out our weak areas. The exams will take about one month and we will be through by 21st November. Thank you so much for remembering me in my exams. I am working extra hard and I believe I will excel.

Regards,
Japheth
Dear Japheth,

I am happy to hear that the teachers are back in school. I know they don't get paid very much and their job is so important to the future of your country and the world. It is good that you are working on your weak areas so that you will be able to pass all of your exams.

Wishing you success in your studies and exam preparation.

Baraka,
Anne
Dear Anne,

I am happy to hear again from you. The teachers strike that lasted for three weeks has been called off and this is a relief to all of us who are waiting for the final exams in high school. I am very busy working to polish out my weak areas so as to excel in my examinations.

I am wishing you all the best as you plan for your work.

regards,

Japheth.
Dear Japheth,

I am sorry to hear that the teachers are on strike. I am happy to hear that you are working with your fellow students to study as your exams are coming soon. Hopefully there are not too many new things that you need to learn before exams.

I am doing well. I am visiting a long-time friend for a few days; it is nice to be here and spend time with him.

We are busy planning the work for the next 3 months for my job. It is my responsibility to review the plans and ask questions so the plans are as complete as possible. It helps me to keep in touch with what is happening in Kenya and Uganda offices.

Wishing you success in this last term of your Secondary School experience.

Baraka,
Anne
Dear Anne,

I am happy to hear that your son is recovering well. Thanks once again for your support. I promise to work hard to pass my exams that are due in November. We opened our school on 3rd September 2012 but our teachers have gone on strike so we are Just doing private studies. We hope they will agree with the government and return to work.

My family is doing well and we love you so much.
With lots of love.

Japheth
Hi Japheth,

Congratulations on the good results of the mock exam. I am very proud of you for working so hard to improve. I am also very happy that my support has kept you in school and not sent home for lack of school fees. Keep up the good work.

The person we hired to work in Uganda will help me in monitoring and improving the way the offices in Kenya and Uganda do their work. I spent the last two days training her and she leaves for East Africa tomorrow. It is very exciting to have someone there who will focus on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our offices.

I am doing well and hope the same for you and your family. Please greet them for me. My son's recovery is going well and he gets stronger every day. I am grateful for that.

Baraka,
Anne
Hi Anne,

Warm greetings to you and the rest of your family. The second term has come to an end and I am very grateful for your support. I am happy to inform you that I improved so much in the mock exams. I managed to score a mean grade of B and I am proud of my performance. I am still focused and studying hard during the vacation in order to pass my real exams which are due in November.

I can not forget your efforts in supporting my education. I owe all my performance to you since I have never been sent home for school fees. Thank you once again for your kind support.

I am happy to hear that you enjoyed visiting your son. I am wishing him quick recovery.

What kind of work is the person you hired going to do in Uganda?

Wishing you all the best in your daily endeavors.

Regards,

Japheth
Hi Japheth,

I am happy to hear that you are studying for mock exams. They will help you to pass the real exams that you will take later this year.

I enjoyed my visit with my son and am now back home. He had some surgery and is recovering well from it. He is young and strong and healthy so that makes recovery go that much faster.

We hired a person for a one-year fellowship in Uganda. We were unable to find someone to fill the two-year position so decided to change what we were looking for. I am happy that the decision has been made and she will be arriving in East Africa later this month.

Hope this finds you and your family doing well.

Baraka,
Anne
Hi Anne,

I am happy to hear that you are doing fine. My family and I are doing well. Hope you enjoyed your visit to your son.

We are now going on with our mock exams and will be through in a few weeks time. Its my hope that I will perform well.

lastly i wish you all the best in your work.

Japheth
Hi Japheth,

How are you today? I am doing fine. Some friends of my son are visiting me and it is very good to see them. Next week I am going to visit my son in the state of Utah. I am anxious to see him and spend some time with him.

I am busy with work things. I am interviewing people for a 2 year position in Uganda so that takes alot of time. Once I screen them, my manager will interview the ones that I think would be able to do the job. I will be glad when we get this person hired.

I wish you well on your mock exams. I will look forward to hearing your results.

Wishing you well.
Anne

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
