About

Born in 1996 in Ngamba village, Judith is the first born child in a family of two children. Her single mother works hard as a house-help within the village and with her meager earnings takes care of the family. Judith is very determined to continue with her studies against all odds and many times she has do manual jobs like fetching water for people and burning charcoal during weekends and holidays in order to supplement her mother's income to pay school fees and buy food. The family does not own any land because culturally, women are not allocated any portion of their father's land. Judith is an exceptionally brilliant student and given the opportunity to study and get a good education she has the potential to excel in life and become a productive person in her family and community.

Hallo Christi,

Nice to hear from you again. I am doing fine in school. We had a mid-term break for three days and now we are back to school. I am happy to have met the president of TSF and other guests who visited us. We really missed you but hope once you complete school you will visit us.

Now i am working extra hard since this is my final year in high school. We will soon sit for our mock exams that prepares us for the final exam.

During my April break i helped my parents in household chores and also met friends from other schools.

Hoping to hear from you.

Judith
Hi Judith,
What you say is very wise: hard work and determination are the only things that lead to success.

I hope that you enjoyed your break! What did you do during it? Did you see friends? I will soon leave my job to go back to school. Although I am sad to leave, I am looking forward to returning to school. Before I return, I will take two months to travel and see friends. I think I am most excited for that break :)

I hope that school is going well for you.

All the best,
Christi
Hi Christi
I am happy to hear from you again. In our garden we do grow crops like maize, beans and cowpeas. Cactuses are commonly found in our place because the climate is hot.

We are back to school after a three weeks break. I am still working hard knowing that hard work and determination results to success.

Nice time.
Judith
Hi Judith,
I am happy to hear that you are working hard, and very happy to hear that you will have a bumper harvest this year! What crops do you grow with your mother? At my house I don't grow anything to eat, but I do grow a small tree and cactuses. Do you have cactuses where you live? Where I live it is too cold for them to grow outside so I grow them in a pot in my living room.

Good luck in school!

All the best,
Christi
Hi friends,
I am fine and hope that you are too. I am grateful that we have come to the end of term one. I am also grateful to all who have been supporting my education. In school i am working hard to achieve my dreams. We had an end of term exam and i managed to pass well. As we take time to be out of school i will be helping my mother in weeding for the crops. This year we are blessed to have good rains and we anticipate for a bumper harvest. Nice time to all as you work hard to achieve your dreams.

Judith
Hi Christi
I am grateful to hear that you are fine. I am also fine and doing well in my studies. We are back from a mid-term break and in two weeks time we will be sitting for our end of year exams. I am working hard to perform well.

I also find household chores challenging especially now that I am in school and I need extra time to study but I have to put with the challenges. Currently most people are preparing their farms in readiness for the onset of the rains that are due any time.

My career subjects are biology, chemistry and mathematics and I have a burning desire of becoming a doctor.

I hope to hear from you again.

Judith
Hi Judith,
Congratulations on your score of a C+! I'm happy that you're continuing to work hard in school even though you are also busy with chores. When I lived with my mother, I used to have to clean dishes as part of my chores, which I thought was a lot of work. But now that I live alone, I have to clean my whole house! Please keep me updated about what you're learning in school.

All the best,
Christi

Hallo Carly,
Thank you so much for your efforts to make my dream come true. Now i can concentrate in my studies without the worries of School fees. We are towards the end of first term and I am working extra hard to make sure that i score exemplary in end term exams. Biology is still my favorite subjects. I love learning about the human body. I still love reading. I have never read The Kite Runner but hope its interesting.

My school is very young and has a shortage of facilities. In fact we are the pioneers and its our hope that it will grow.

wishing you all the best in your endeavors.
Judith
Hi Judith!

My name is Carly Greenspan. I work with Kenya Connect and The School Fund so wanted to introduce myself! How are you. And how is school going? I hope it's going well. I saw that one of your favorite subjects is biology - I like biology too! I love to learn about plant types and genetics. It's so interesting!

I also saw that you like to read - I've never read Adventures of Thinker, but I am reading a very good book right now called The Kite Runner. I'd love to hear all about your school and your hometown Ngamba!

Take care,
Carly

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
