Dear Melanie,

Hi, how have you been and how is your family? As for me I am doing great and I have been very happy ever since my moms came to visit me here in Zambia.
Mom Maureen and Mama Sabrina have come for a visit at Chikumbuso and right now they are working very hard in the library. This visit for me is a dream come true because I was always looking forward to this amazing and fantastic visit from my lovely moms. Before I go any further I would like to inform you that last week I got my end of term results and I came out to be in the first position. I did very well last term because I passed all the subjects. I would also like to tell you that Mom Maureen is now my story publisher and she published my first story entitled The Royal Kingdom and it came out so amazing and interesting. I couldn’t believe myself to have written such a wonderful story.

I have come up with another story and very soon I will write it down and I hope when it comes out you will love it. Thank you for the support, love, and care you have offered me and I will be more than grateful if you would come to Zambia and visit Chikumbuso.

Thank you.

Yours,
Patson
Hi Patson! Only a few weeks until Sabrina and I arrive in Lusaka! I can't wait to get there and see you, Natasha, Morgan, Marjory, Anderson, and all the ladies. And I look forward to spending time with you and hearing about your studies and your new story ideas. I'm bringing you some books, both fantasy, and Young Adult, that I think you'll like. See you soon!

Maureen
Hi Sabrina,

Hey Sabrina how are you doing with your family, I hope you are all great as for me everything is fine. First and foremost I would like to apologize for taking a bit long to write to you. We started writing our end of term two tests the past week and then I started everything on a good note because this term I was well geared and prepared for all the subjects. Anytime from now I will be in my regular position of being the best. Carly and I have been good friends and she has been such a good and friendly lady ever since she came to Chikumbuso because I remember the time when I took too long to write to you and the day when we met she told me that I become a lazy boy and it was time when I was supposed to stop that laziness. Ever since that day I stopped the laziness and become hardworking and now I always seize the opportunities that come across me.

Mama Maureen is coming in September and I hope you will come with her because I really miss all of you. I will be very happy to see you guys.

This holiday I will be busy with my story and I hope by the end of the holiday I would have finished creating part 1 of the story and I also hope the whole world will like it because my story will generally talk about orphans and vulnerable children and some of the challenges that they face in their live.

Mama Sabrina you have been such a loving and caring mother to me and I pray to God that he will bless you and your family and protect you so that you can keep on with the wonderful job you are for me and Chikumbuso. In short the whole world at large.
Keep on with the good job.

Yours,
Patson Z. Kaweme
Dear Maureen,

First and foremost, I would like to apologize for taking a bit long to write to you. Anyways the good thing is that I have started my end term test with highly expectant marks that I will be proud of. This term a lone I was so geared and I was sure that I have done my very best and anytime from now I will be back in my regular position of being the best of all the pupils in my class. I always thank God almighty for giving me a second chance of being very hardworking because I am a guy who always seizes opportunities which come across me.

Some time back I read your emails saying that you are coming in September. I am grateful for you have made such a wonderful decision. I will be very happy to see you again after such a long disappearance from Chikumbuso. Chikumbuso is always a home for you and anybody in this world who has got a heart for Zambian children,

The story I told you about it rolling and expanding in my head. he boy is searching for happiness which he has not experienced before. I don’t know what will happen next. Maybe you could be wondering why I came up with such a story of a boy going through so many hardships this is because I was aiming to let the whole world know about the challenges that orphans and vulnerable children face in their lives. And this story of mine will mainly talk about some of these challenges. I hope one day the suffering of orphans and vulnerable in he world will come to an end.

This is the reason why I won’t stop being grateful to you because not all children have this kind of opportunity to be in school and I thank God for blessing me with people like you who will really take me to another level in my education. Thank you so much for the great work you are doing in this and may God bless you and your family. May he also lay a hand on you and protect you so that you can continue with your work because you are not only changing my future but also for the future generations to come.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Yours,
Patson Z. Kaweme
Dear Melanie,

Hi Melanie, how have you been with your family? I hope you are all fine, as for me everything is great and fantastic.

I am sorry that I didn’t write to you last month. It’s because of the studies and preparations for my end of term two tests. The good part of it is that I started each and every subject on a good note because I didn’t face any difficulties with any of the subjects. This week on Thursday we will be writing one of the dreadful subjects “MATHEMATICS” and I am really preparing for this subject because the last term it brought me down but this time around I will bring it down.

The last time I wrote to you I remember asking you if you post some of your photos on your email. I hope you put that into consideration because i will be hopefully waiting for that.

This holiday I will be busy working on my new story and it seems that by the end of this holiday I will have finished creating part 1. This story will generally be talking about the hardships the orphans and vulnerable children face in their lives. As any other would want in this world is to inspire, educate, and entertain other people through stories, and that’s what I am also aiming for because I want to inspire young orphans like me and educate them so that they can have that courage in their future to always seize every small opportunity that comes their way. Look out for this story and I hope you will enjoy and love it.

Hai Nathan
how have you been? And how is the weather in you country? Back here in Zamnia it has been cool and am really enjoy the weather. I am sorry for taking too long to write to you. But this term alone has started with so many impressions, and am impressed with myself because just last week we were given a weekly test in Business Studies(B.S). As they say everything you do you need to work hard so I sacrificed my time and effort in this subject and my results came at positively because I came out in the first position with 88% defeating all the two classes at my school. I also want to inform you that next week I am going to be rewarded for doing so well last year in primary level where i got 833 for me to be in first position. I also want to inform you that this year I have decided to write an amazing and interesting story. I have not yet come up with the title, but very soon i will inform you about the title. This story of mine i think it will be completed in November and I hope you will love it,and read it too. A few days to go for before the world cup and I am looking forward to see your team playing. I wish I wish you all the best in your Education and hope you loved team will perform well. Looking forward to your reply.

Thank you.

Dear Maureen,Sabrina and Melanie
How have you been this season in your respective country? As for me back here in Zambia its cool but cold most in the morning. I hope you are all fine together with your family,as for me everything is fine and great.
This term alone has started with great outcomes of me studing very hard at school. Just last week we were given a weekly test in one of the subject i love very much and my results were positive as i became number one out of two classes(8A,8B)coming out in the first position with 88% in a subject called Business studies(B.S).this subject deals with office work which has really come to my attention and interest to study this subject. Passing is all what has been in me so even in the final test that we are going to write this term i promise you nothing but my very best in each of the subject especially Mathematics because this is the only subject I failed last term.
Guys I have got good news for you. During the past months I have been thinking of creating a new interesting story,so I have decided that during my holiday in August,I will start working on my new story. But the problem is that I have not yet come up with the title, but this story is about a boy who went through many hardship in his life. Watch out for this one! I think by the end of November it will be completed.
Mama Linda told me on skype last month that i was suppose to dance for you guy,but unfortunately my batteries stopped working so I do not know how the movements of M.J and all the preparation! I am sorry to tell you this but i dont really think i will dance
Hi Patson,
I echo Robin and Sabrina's encouragement to you and also the advice not to be too hard on yourself. You set your goals and inspirations very high and that is wonderful. Remember though to also be patient with yourself. You went through a rough time only one month ago--that is sure to have an impact on your grades. Keep your chin up!

I am so happy you got to "meet" Nate in the Skype session Wednesday. I was wondering if you could do me a favor? Our principal wants to write a brief article about the Global Friends club for her newsletter. If possible, could you send me a post with your reflections about having Nate as a pen pal?

Sabrina and I are getting together tonight to brainstorm a possible trip to Chikumbuso in September. I am very happy at the prospect of returning to work in the library and see all my Zambian friends!

Sincerely,
Maureen
Dear Jaclyn and Mrs. Saglio,

How are you doing with your families? And how is your country, is the weather nice? Zambia is cool and windy. School is great and I am working extra hard at school. When I complete school I have always dreamed of becoming a pilot. I know everything is possible with God and i will be praying for this day to come. I thank you for the good job that you are doing. People like you are an inspiration to others and I have been inspired by our good job. Keep it up!

Me being a Chikumbuso pupil, I have promised to satisfy my family, you good people, and all of Chikumbuso at large. looking forward to your feedback very soon.

Thanks,

Patson Z. Kaweme
Dear Robin,

It is great to hear all that encouragement from you and I really appreciate that! I am also happy to talk to you personally and i hope we are going to learn more things from each other. I have been looking forward to meeting friends who will encourage me and will tell me more about themselves and the country at large. Let me use this opportunity to answer your questions. One of the subjects that gives me a lot of headaches is mathematics. I don't know why I am always puzzled with this subject. Our school has got platy of clubs and dancing here in Zambia is part of our culture. Just this year our school ( Ng'ombe PTA) participated in the culture dance competition and many other schools participated. In all of Lusaka our school came out number one. I was very happy this day because this made me remember my fathers words before he died. He said ' my son you were born to be the best, number on and nothing less and be helpful to your family and other people." That is the reason why I am disappointed in myself for coming out number 2. this This is all that I can say at this moment and i will be looking forward to your feedback!

Thank you,

Patson Z. Kaweme
Hi Patson
Please forgive me for not writing sooner but know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. It was a thrill to see you and others on Skype yesterday. I was so tempted to talk to all of you but the short time we had was meant for your pen pals. Maureen was disappointed to be away from school but it was exciting for her global friends.
We are so proud of how well you are doing in school. Please don't be so hard on yourself. Sickness in your family makes thing very difficult. I see your sister's beautiful smile and pray that her hearing will improve.
Here in Connecticut we are welcoming Spring. We had a long cold winter with much snow so seeing the trees with their green leaves and flowers in bloom is a beautiful sight. I have been very busy working in a greenhouse growing thousands of flowers and vegetables.
It is wonderful to see them able to bring joy to everyone's garden.
Maureen and are are excited to plan a trip to see you and Chikumbuso in September. Until then don't worry too much about your studies. I know you are doing the best you can.
All my best to you,
Sabrina
Sorry it got cut off--

We just opened school and we got our end of term results and this time around it wasn't my time. As people always say " What goes up mud always come down" and I have come to believe this because my term one results came out as unexpectedly as I was thinking of. I came out in second position with 507 marks and failing one of the key subjects which is mathematics. The cause of this failure in mathematics was algebra. One of the topics that always gave me headaches. I am so disappointed with myself and my performance . What i may ask from you is for your forgiveness and for you to grant me a second chance because this term I promise you nothing buy my very best. You know it is very hard for me to accept that I have failed this term. For being in second position feels like I have failed because I was always on top but it feels bad to one day find yourself down. I have been on top for five years now since grade two up to grade 7. Being under someones shoes at school has never been my pressure or determination but prestige has been part of me at school. that is why I am disappointed and ashamed of myself for coming out number 2. Even though all this has happened to me, the love, care and support you always offer me encourages me a lot in whatever I do and so i won't stop appreciating the good things you always for for me. You've been such loving and supporting mothers. I honor you with gratitude.

As the bible says " there is time for everything" I guess this is my time to cry and be encouraged to work extra hard and " pull up my socks" and also time for others to rejoice for their effort in the future. Thank you once again for supporting me and I hope many great things are to come to me in the future. I know God has prepared my future many succession and to be helpful to others.

Thank you,

Patson Z Kaweme
Dear Mama, Maureen and Sabrina,

First and for most, greetings to you and your family. As for me and my family we are all doing great. Many thanks goes to the only almighty God who has protected and provided us with blessings during our last term holiday. I spent my holiday locally at home with my family. But this holiday of mine was not good at all because most of the times my brain was focus thinking about my father (the young brother to my dad) who was sick in Itapiri-Mposhi (the central part of Zambia). But this time around his condition is stable and I hope and look forward to see to it that he is discharged from the hospital very soon.

We just opened school and we got our end of term results and this time around it want my time. As people always say

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
