About

Class Rank: 1/88 The most difficult time I experienced is when my father passed away in an accident. After I lost my father, I realize that my happiest time is when I can be with my family members. I was proud of myself when I learned I scored grade A in my Standard 7 National Exam. The dream I have is to become an engineer. In order for me to become an engineer, I will make sure I study hard and pass all the exams. I want to be a civil engineer responsible for construction. I want to solve problems in infrastructures like roads and railways. The School Fund is a foundation that supports poor students like myself by providing me an opportunity to proceed with higher education. If my dream comes true I will donate part of my salary to the School Fund. I want to make sure the School Fund really grow continuously and support more needy students.

Hi School fund students

How are you? How is school?

I enjoy reading your journal. I would love to learn about your life. You can write back to tell me about your family, like how many brothers and sister do you have? Do you have good friends? What do you do with your friends? Do you like music? Do you like to sing or dance? Do you like sports? What makes you happy? What do you do when you are out of school? What do you do to help your families? See, I have so many questions. Please write back to tell me your stories.

Thank you and hope you have a new school year.

Regards,
Indy
Hi School Fund Students

Sorry it took me a while to write to you. For those of you who is receiving my journal the first time, let me introduce myself.

My name is Indy. I am currently living at the same town as Ms Judy. She and I went to high school together. I am so happy to have this opportunity to get to know you.

I used to work with computers for many many years. Do you like to use computers?

Yesterday I met with some of my old school friends for lunch. These are the friends I have for almost 50 years. We talked about our school days when we were 12 years old.
It brought many happy memories.

Do you enjoy your school? Now is the time to form good friendship with your classmates? What do you do with your classmates? Do you study together? Do you talk and share secrets? I know you have a lot of study to do. Hopefully you can find some time to do some fun stuff with your friends.

Please write back to let me know what interests you.

Until next time,
your friend,
Indy
Hello Lydia, !

I am writing just to say hello, and to ask how you are doing? Also to ask how your school classes are progressing and what subjects you like the best.

I am well, the United States is going through a very difficult time politically, the people are marching in peaceful protest on the streets. It is a bit of several issues altogether, women’s rights, climate change, the United States’ place in the world, and immigration from other countries into the States.

Personally, I also think it is about our private value systems and beliefs; the rights of all citizens to education, healthcare, and racial equality; these concerns are running smack up against an older world of power and wealth.

It is a time of change in America and few of us are easy in our minds; many of the women I know are giving their time to call centers reminding people to register to vote, or writing postcards, or attending lectures or protests.

I am happy though that we live in a Democracy, and that we live in a country that allows us to express our beliefs.

Be well, I hope to hear from you.
Karen

Hi Students

How are you? How was your time off?

I enjoyed reading your journal very much. You mentioned quite a bit of your time at school. I am a bit curious about your time outside of school.

What do you do when you are home? Do you need to help taking care of family members? Do you need to work in the field? Do you need to help with cooking the food? Do you spend time with your friends? Do you like to sing? Do you like to dance? Do you like to play ball games?

It will be great if you can let me know what your life is like.

Now you are back at school, I hope you have a successful term.

Please write back.

Until next time

Indy
Hello Lidya,

It has been a long time since I was able to read your postings.

I hope that you are well and that your family is well, and that your classes subjects are strong.

I would love to read about how you are doing in your life and in your learning.

with my best wishes, here is a photo of the cathedral at Windsor where a Royal wedding just took place. I thought your engineers heart would appreciate the vaulted ceiling.

Dear Students,

This week, the US celebrated one of our largest holidays: Thanksgiving.
In the United States, Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day is a public holiday on the fourth Thursday in November. On this day, people remember the first American Thanksgiving, when the first European settlers had been taught how to grow food by the NativeAmericans, and they celebrated the successful harvest together.

For many of us, the meaning of Thanksgiving usually includes feasting, four-day weekends, football games, floats, family reunions, or a forerunner to Christmas festivities. The “first Thanksgiving,” however, was neither a feast nor a holiday, but a simple gathering. Following the Mayflower’s arrival at Plymouth Rock on December 11, 1620, the Pilgrims suffered the loss of 46 of their original 102 colonists. With the help of 91 Indians, the remaining Pilgrims survived the bitter winter and yielded a bountiful harvest in 1621. In celebration, a traditional English harvest festival, lasting three days brought the Pilgrims and natives to unite in a “thanksgiving” observance.

This year, I celebrated Thanksgiving with a very nice dinner with my family with traditional food such as Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, etc..

Do you have a tradition similar to ours in your country? I’d love to hear about it.

Best,
Jonathan

Hello Jonathan,
I hope you are absolutely fine like me at this side. Now it is weekend and I am trying to make up with things which I did not accomplish during school days. What is so important is just studying much more due to that next NATIONAL EXAM will b e my turn to complete what was with me for almost 4 years at school. Much happier is the last journal that you sent for us, i guess that most of us we received the journal as a challenge to challenge our own lifes. this week I had a lot of studies about Biology and I got a lot of interest upon studying it especially by RACHIEL-PI. That is all I wanted to share with you. I now wish you whatever is blessed In your weekend.
It is me,Lidya.
Hello Young Ladies of the Iringa Girls School,

I hope you are all well. My name is Karen, and some time ago I was known to some of you, because we wrote to each other on The School Fund journal system.

If you have the chance to write to me I would like that very much. I promise to write back to you.

I am an older lady with one married son name Chris, and whose wife is named Jenny, and a granddaughter who is named Sheena and who is 15 years old.

I have worked with books my whole life, in bookstores and for a large publishing company in the United States. I live in the San Francisco bay area close to where Madam Judy lives.

I look forward to meeting you and reading about your school, and family, and friends, and activities, and what you are learning and thinking.

be well,
Karen
Dear Students,

I love to collect wisdom from different sources that are meaningful to me.
Below are a few of my favorites that I would like to share with you:

1) When you master your emotions, you master your life
Anger. This is one emotion that is sure to pop up sometime during the day. How you deal with your anger says a lot about who you are as a person. How well do you manage your emotions? Do you have a harsh reaction if someone says something insulting to you? Anger can be a destructive emotion if not managed properly.

2) Respect other people’s opinions even when they differ from your own.

Conflict. It’s rare that two people agree on most topics. Conflict is everywhere. It happens at work, home, with family and friends. Disagreeing isn’t the problem (although most people think it is). The problem is not giving value to the opinions of others.

3) Experience The Joy Of Learning
Each time you learn something new you gain more knowledge and with more knowledge come more confidence. Learning helps us become more adaptable and flexible to new situations. Learning encourages us to be more creative and innovative in our thinking and we are therefore more comfortable with the unknown.
Reading books is a great way for us to learn. To fully embrace the joy of learning, never stop reading and searching for more knowledge.

4) Touch someone’s soul with your kindness
Random Acts of Kindness. It’s the little things in life that matter most. Hold a door, smile at people. Kindness does not cost much and it touches the soul of another person.

5) Speech is a powerful tool.
Your words. Watch your words carefully. They can be daggers or building blocks. You can crush the spirit of someone or make them feel like they can conquer the world. Taste your words before you spit them out. Words are your thoughts coming to life. It’s your choice.

What are your favorite quotes and wisdom to live by? I’d love to hear your thought on that.
Cheers,
Jonathan Gilbert

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
