About

Lilian is the last-born child in a family of six. Her father was involved in a motorbike accident and has been unable to support the family. Most of the elder siblings dropped out of school and are unemployed. Lilian is so determined to achieve her dream of becoming a doctor. Her good performance in her exams did not come on a silver platter. She had to wake up early in the morning to go to school to utilize electricity at school. At other times, she studied under the moonlight, as there was no source of light at home. She believes that without struggle there is no progress.

Hello Ramona,
I express my gratitude to you.Am so glad that you contributed five dollars on 23\7\2022 to fund my education.Sincerely speaking,it is through your donation that I am able to be in school working towards building my future.Thank you for your support.
Lilian.
Also, I hope that you are able to make some time to keep in communication with your friends. Friends and family make life worth living, in my opinion!
Hi Lilian! I am glad that you are getting a short break from school. I know that the National Examinations are very important! Please study hard but remember to sleep (and rest), if you can. Are you still enjoying Chemistry? That is a wonderful story about how it used to be your biggest challenge and now you love the subject. I can definitely see why that story will motivate other students who find different subjects in school to be very challenging. I think you have many gifts, so whether you become a doctor or a motivational speaker or a teacher, you will be successful and bring a great deal of joy to your family. Please keep working hard -- you can do it! I believe in you!
Hi Marisa
I hope that you are fine.I am glad to inform you that I am at home for a one week vacation.I hope that I will spend every single minute I get in my books.I am hoping for a successful moment as I am waiting for my National Examinations for it will determine my future.I wish you a fruitful and wonderful time.Thank you.
Hi Marisa,
I hope you are fine.I have being in school for two months and now I am at home for a one week holiday to refresh my mind and gain more energy to continue with my studies come next week. Before I break for the holiday, I had set my goals and I hope to accomplish them before the holiday is over.
Since I'm at home,I am working much more on Chemistry which I thought was my worst subject.Truly,it has turned out to be my best subject only because of motivation from different people who have excelled in life.
Even though I aspire to be a doctor,it has being my dream that one day,I will stand out and be a motivational speaker and encourage the youth as well as the adults.
To be sincere,I had to cut off my friends first for I had to prioritise my studies first even though they used to make my day.Back in school,my teachers are kind and are always ready to assist me whenever am in their need.
As I can say,I had a very happy and a busy term.Thank you very much for your support throughout the term.Thank you.
Lilian.
Hi Lilian!

I am so glad to hear from you! I am sorry I did not respond sooner. Your writing in English is really getting better! You are writing more and using a much bigger vocabulary. I can tell that you are reading! We have a holiday coming up, too. It is called Spring Break. We have 2 weeks off from school. My daughter was very excited yesterday because we have 3 baby chicks hatching! I plan to spend time with my children and go swimming at the beach. I also hope to start teaching them how to cook some meals by themselves.

I, too, would like advice on how to balance everything we have to do in life. It is hard, isn't it? I think the answer is that we cannot do everything perfectly all the time, and that is OK. Sometimes our priorities change. Sometimes our work comes first. Sometimes our families come first. Sometimes we need to rest. Sometimes we need to have fun. I think if we are doing a little bit of everything, and asking for help when we need it, then we are doing a good job. It sounds like you are a very serious student, and you like to help your family. Do you have friends that make you laugh? Do you have teachers who are kind? I hope so. Tell me what you are reading over your holiday. I am reading a book called "Where the Crawdads Sing." It is about a girl who grows up all alone on the southern east coast of the United States. It is a beautiful book but a little bit sad. I hope it has a happy ending. Take care of yourself and each other!

Aloha,
Marisa
Hello Marisa,
It has been long since I wrote to you.I hope that you are fine together with your family.I had a very short but busy term because it was the one to determine whether to be promoted to form four or not and truly I was promoted.Am now back at home for a seven week holiday.During the holiday, I will help my parents in the garden to harvest crops and also preparing for the next rainy season. To my interest,I will spent more time in books so as to cover some part of the syllabus ahead of the teacher.I will study the covered syllabus to gain more knowledge and understand better. As the holiday ends,I am determined to meet my expectations and also meet my goals to fulfil my dream as I have planned. It is true to say that,a dream without a plan is just but a wish.
Once again I say thank you for your support throughout the term and also the year.I really want to say that I had a smooth running throughout the term.
Am requesting you to guide me on how to balance my subjects for a better performance than the present performance.
God bless you abundantly.
Hi Marisa,
I hope you had a nice holiday and you enjoyed.I too enjoyed my holiday.I have not recently read a book but I am looking forward to reading a book by the title THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN.It is about a gorilla. We do celebrate Christmas together with the extended family.I also celebrated the new year 2022.I am going back to school for the third term and am hoping that I will be having a fruitful and joyous term in school.Wishing you a nice time.
Thank you.
Lilian.
Hi Lilian!

It was so nice to hear from you last month! I am glad to hear that you are reading. What have you read lately that you enjoyed? I am reading a book called _Pachinko_ which is about a family in Korea. It is a very long book, but I enjoy picturing it in my head.

We are now on holiday for two weeks for Christmas. Hooray! Do you celebrate Christmas? We will celebrate at home by eating a big meal and opening a present on Christmas morning. Then it will be time for the New Year -- 2022!

I wish you good health and a good holiday. I hope you can read a good book and send me another letter.

Take care,
Marisa
Hello Marisa,
It has been long since I wrote you and it is my hope that you are good.Am also good and working towards my goal.To be honest,I started creating interest in reading novels and storybooks I have just read one recently.I have learnt from you that my brain is like a muscle and that the more I read the more I get stronger.
Am good in Mathematics.I am currently working towards my sciences.Am always interested in taking tests.I have been visiting several pharmacy shops.I never had a chance to see how they dispense medicine.Since I am still in school, can I be given a chance to be in a clinic to see what they do?I am now able and can give first aid even in the school compound.
I am glad to hear from you several books and novels with knowledge about medicine which can help me develop in skills and which will create curiosity in me.Wish you a nice time.Thank you.
Lilian.
Hi Lilian!

It is always good to hear from you. I can see that your English is improving, as you are writing more and more to me each time. Good work! Learning English must be challenging, in addition to speaking your other languages.

You asked how you can make your dream of becoming a doctor come true. My first recommendation is to become a very stronger reader, especially in English. Do you read extra books for fun? Being a strong reader will help you in every subject you study, from biology to history. Read as much as you can! Your brain is like a muscle, and the more you read, the stronger you will get!

Secondly, you will really need to study your math and science and do well on your tests. As you know, your test scores will determine where you can go to college and what you can study once you get there. I know that taking tests is scary, but each time you test you gain more experience that will help you on the next test.

My third piece of advice for you is to look for ways that you might gain experience in the field of medicine while you are still in secondary school. Can you take a first aid class? Can you visit a vaccine clinic and watch what they do? Can you volunteer at a pharmacy and see how they dispense medicines? Any kind of experience you can gain now would be helpful for your future as a doctor or nurse.

Take care of yourself,
Marisa
Hello Marisa!
