Hello Mwende!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and school break. It's hard to believe you will be starting form 4. I hope that you have been able to read over the break. I read some really wonderful books over the Christmas holidays. They always take me to new places and teach me new things.

Right now I'm in Vermont, a state that has mountains and in the winter, snow. Today I am hoping to ski. It's a fun sport to do.

Have a great final year in secondary school! Take good care!
Sharon (Mutanu)
Hi Piera!

Hi donors!
I am very happy to write you informing you of my stay in school. The term has been short and we have the end of it waiting for the last term in secondary school that is term three. I am doing my best in preparation for the coming exam in November. I promise to work smart and make Kenya connect as well as you who have made my safe stay in high school proud.
Wishing you all a safe stay and may the Deity bless you and walk with you in each step of life that you make.

Mwende.
Hello donors!

I hereby write to express my gratitude to you for enabling me to have my secondary school completed through your support towards my academics. I lack words to express my gratitude because if it were not for you I could have ended being nothing in this world after my primary education. It is my last lap in high school ready for the coming exam which is due November. I want to promise that come January when the results will be out it would be joy to you and Kenya connect fraternity celebrating my success. Keep on supporting other students who are from humble backgrounds as I was and we would rise up our societies and make a change in them and also show the importance of education to our fellow students who have been impacted negatively in their mind that education has nothing to offer in the future and many are the university materials who have ended up been casual labourers.
Thank you very much and may the almighty Deity bless you all.
Bye,,,
Mwende.
Hello Sharon,
Hopefully you are well and good enjoying your days on earth. I am well too and very happy and committed all together to make my future for I am waiting the last exam in high school come November.
I have done my best only revision going on. I appreciate you for the constant journals to me full of words of encouragements and sharing how you have been spending your vocations with your family. It is my joy that you have a blessed and peaceful family.
I have no words to express my gratitude to you for your continuous support in terms of both school fees and also been part and parcel of my academics.
Hopefully next year January we shall be celebrating my success together with Kenya connect staff.
Yes I like the new library, it is very beautiful and conducive for learning.
Bye bye,,,,,,,,Mwende
Hujambo Mwende!

I hope your term has gone well. I saw that the new Kenyan president was sworn in yesterday. Hopefully he will bring prosperity to the country.

My family and I went to Iceland. It's a country that is an island between Europe and North America. It's very rugged and uses a lot of geothermal energy. While there we saw the Northern lights. It's when the sky fills with wavy colors based on solar particles and gases from earth. They are usually seen in Northern skies. It was very cool. We also went to the continental divide and stood between the tectonic plates-- there is one other divide in the world and that's the Rift Valley in Kenya!

I saw some pics from the KC staff with you at the conflict resolution workshop. I hope it was helpful. Do you like the new Library Learning Center? I think it's beautiful and I hope you can check out some books from the library. I wish you well during your break and study hard. I know you'll do well.

Take care! Sharon (Mutanu)
Sijambo Sharon!

I am sincerely very happy to hear from you after a long period of time. It is my joy that you are well and in view of what is going on in our motherland Kenya. The elections were peaceful and only counting of the votes is going on. We are hoping for a peaceful and good governance in the country.
We are resuming back to our school next week to continue with our studies and preparation for the final exam which is around the corner.
I really feel much loved by you from your continuous communication to me and mostly from your encouragements.
Hoping soon we shall meet and probably I can accompany you to your country Maryland to enjoy the climate and have fun with you.

Yes I participated in the conflict resolution workshop and it was so fantastic we learned a lot and I knew where we sometimes go wrong with our parents by solving conflicts in the incorrect way.
Promise to work smart and bring joy to Kenya Connect fraternity.

When is your next thanksgiving in U.S?

Bye,,
Mwende.
Jambo Mwende!

You are in the final term of Secondary School! I am pleased to hear that you are working hard! I am sure your dedication will pay off!

I saw that you participated in the Conflict Resolution Workshop. I hope it was helpful. It's always important to know how to deal with difficult situations.

It is summer in Maryland and it's very hot. It does rain from time to time so it cools off at bit. We are growing tomatoes and green peppers in our garden. We also go to our farmer's market. There is a lot of corn (maize), melons and peaches, one of my favorite fruits! They are sweet and juicy like mangoes.

I am watching your national elections. I hope they are peaceful.

Take good care and study hard and READ as many books as possible!

Your friends,
Sharon (Mutanu)
Hello friends!
I am very fine hoping that you are fine and well being too!
It has been a long time since we lastly communicated. I am working smart towards my dream and hoping that by the end of January next year the results will be fantastic and interesting to look at. We are soon resuming back to school for the second term and I am sure that business will not be as normal.

Keep staying safe and God bless you. Looking forward for your reply.
Bye,
Mwende.
Hello Sharon!
I am very enthusiastic to write to you.My break was so good waiting to go back to school next week when I am fully changed academically because during the holiday have been attending tuition in the Kenya connect Library where we have helped each other in different areas.

I have not been able to attend the robotic session but have seen some students doing it and have really enjoyed watching what they have been doing.
I have seen the new Library and I have fully utilized the resources for my beneficially.I am hoping that as you visit Kenya in June I will be able to see you and if not possible I really want to be part of your company at least for one hour.If it will not be possible to see each other, will you visit me in my school?

I really appreciate you for your constant encouragements.

Bye and hoping to meet you Mutanu.

Mwende.
Hello Mwende!

I hope you have had a good break. Have you visited Kenya Connect and done some studying there? Did you get to do the robotics session?

I know the next year is condensed. I imagine it will be hard to do all the subjects in a short period of time. However, I know you are a good student and working hard. There are so many options for the future!

It is spring in Maryland which means the flowers are beginning to bloom and the trees are starting to have leaves on them. It's always a very pretty time of the year. It's also getting warmer.

I am hoping to visit Kenya again in June. Have you seen the new KC Library Learning Center? I hope you get to borrow books from it. Reading will help you so much in the future so try to read as much as possible. I just finished a wonderful book about the US state of Alaska. It was set in the 1800s and was very interesting. I learned a lot and enjoyed the journey of the people in the book.

Have a good last school year. Keep working hard!

Hi Sharon?
How have you been since we lastly communicated?
It has been a while but I am good, going on well with academics.I am working more harder than I have been doing in the last years for this is my last year in high school.
I would like to see you this year as you promised that you would visit Kenya this year.
Thank you very much for your encouragements Sharon and for your support.
I wish you all the best in your life.
Bye,,
Hujambo ma rafiki--

It's good to hear from you and I am glad you are reading. I am doing Duolingo, an on-line language program, to help me learn more Swahili. I'm slow at learning, but I'm picking up words little by little.

This week we are having Thanksgiving in the U.S. It's a time we gather with family around a big meal. Usually we have roast turkey, mashed potatoes, maize and other vegetables. We make pumpkin and apple pie too. It is a feast! We will be enjoying Thanksgiving with my mom and daughter and my husband's parents.

It is starting to become winter here. Last week we had some snow and this week the temperatures are going to be freezing. I actually like the cold and the snow. It's fun to be outside in it.

Keep up working hard in school. When you have trouble with the work, always ask your teacher to help you figure it out.

Thanks for writing! I always like hearing from you.

Sharon

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
