Mwende is a very brilliant girl who has the ambition of becoming a neurosurgeon in future. She is the third born child in a family of four. Her parents are unemployed and cannot afford to pay her school fees. During her primary level, Mwende was constantly sent home for lack of school levies. Despite the many challenges, she emerged among the top in her class. �For Mwende education is the only door to a bright future.�

Hi Sharon!
I am very excited to hear from you.Its very interesting to have conversations with you on how you are going on and what you are doing with your family.Not forgetting that you are really blessed to have a co-operating family as in you do things together.

We had come for a short mid term break and we are resuming back this week.I am keeping my lamp burning as you advised me to because I am building my future.

I am reading a novel too.I am recently reading The Dangerous Boys. Which is a really motivating book and encourages me to be honest and loyal.

As you come to Kenya next year I will teach you more Kiswahili.

Hi Mwende--

I am so happy to hear from you! I am glad school is going well. I love reading too. I am reading a novel about the playwright William Shakespeare and his children. They lived during one of the plagues. It's very well written and the story is gripping.

I am glad you like chemistry too. It's always excited to figure out how chemical reactions occur. Hopefully your school has a lab so you can do some experiments.

This week my husband and I canned tomatoes. When we can tomatoes we cook them, take off their skins, cook them into a sauce and then put them in a jar. We boil the jars so it kills any bacteria. We then have tomato sauce we can use in the winter. We have also canned peaches, cucumbers, and made jam. I attached a picture of the jars of peaches I made.

I am using an on-line program called Duolingo so I can learn some Kiswahili words. It's hard, but I am trying to learn more. Maybe when I come I will have some phrases to use.

I am very happy excited to hear from you Sharon.My school year is going on very well. I am working very hard in my academics bearing in mind that I am building my future.It would be my joy to one day visit you in your home.This is not my final year of academics.I am finishing next year December the year that you are going to visit Kenya Connect.My favorite subject is Chemistry and English I Love reading novels very much.Last week I completed reading "ENDURANCE" by Scott Kelly.It was a very interesting and enjoying novel which was all about Education.

Hello Mwende! I hope your school year is going well. Is this your final year? Do you have a favorite subject?

My husband and I just went hiking in the mountains of New York State. We hiked up 5 mountains for a total of 64 kilometers. We had some gorgeous views of other mountains once we reached the top. I've attached a picture. It is autumn in the U.S. which means the leaves in the northeast of the U.S. are starting to change colors. They go from green to orange, red and yellow. It's very beautiful.

I read like reading a lot. I just finished a book called the Henna Artist which was set in India. It's about the beautiful designs that Henna Artists paint on women's hands and feet. It was an interesting story and I learned more about India from reading it. Do you like to read?

I am hoping to visit Kenya Connect in 2022. If I do, it would be wonderful to see you.

Take care and keep working hard in school and read as much as possible.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
