Greetings Mwende!

I wanted to tell you what a marvelous job you did reading Mama Miti on the Radio Read Aloud. It was excellent. I have been listening to all of the episodes and have been very proud of the students who have been reading.

I hope during the pandemic you have had time to read too. What books do you like to read? I read every night before I go to bed. Right now I'm reading a book called the Book of Joy by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Dali Lama. It's very inspirational.

Have you been participating in the mentor series? Do you still want to be a doctor? Let me know if the series has been helpful.

Take care!
Sharon

Hi Mwende,

Oh I am so happy you know about Ben Carson, I love his story and how he overcame so many stumbling blocks to turn into a world renouned surgeon. I know a child of a friend that was seen by Dr. Carson and he extended this child's life far beyond what any other doctor could do. Most Doctors said the child was in operable.

Yes I have been to Kenya two times, 2011 and 2017, I love Kenya and Wamuyu. I think the Kenyan are some of the most beautiful people in the world, and so happy and welcoming. My oldest daughter traveled the last time with me to Kenya and she loves it too!

Keep up the hard work, it really does pay off! oxox's Laura

Hi Mwende!

Wow a Neurosurgeon what a wonderful goal, it sounds like you would be a wonderful surgeon, we need good doctors in the world. Are you familiar with Dr. Ben Carson, who is retired now, he practiced at a hospital near where I live. I actually knew a boy with a serious brain tumor that Dr. Carson extended his life quite substantially. I have 3 kids, my oldest daughter will be a senior in university this September, my middle son will be a Freshman at University, and my youngest daughter will be a senior in High School. My youngest is adopted from China. Here is a picture of us with our dogs, we now have a third dog.

We have all been living together with the pandemic, and things have gone will for us. My husband still works and each child has a job, so that is good. But so many have lost their jobs, it is very sad. I hope you are journaling this time so you can tell your kids about it one day. Keep up the good work and stay safe! All my best, Laura
Hi Mwende!
It’s great to hear from you. I’m glad that you are able to continue with your studies despite Covid-19. I hope you and your family are well and staying safe. We are well and have not gotten sick. My older son is in Prague and can work online from his apartment. However, my younger son is a dancer who was working in London and all his performances were cancelled for the rest of the year so he came home. He decided it would be a good time to work on his Masters degree since it is likely that because of Covid-19 he will not be able to perform for another year. I love to travel too and hope that it will be possible again this time next year.
Best wishes to you and your family!
Linda

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
