Hi donors,
How have you been? How are you going on with life? And the situation? GLOBAL WARMING! Is it becoming so unbearable in your places ?In Kenya its now a challenge. The sun is destroying vegetation with its much heat.Technology is the remaining solution we have to put it to an end.But how?We have already made the ozone layer useless. But wait!I am going to tell you something!!!I hope you are going to enjoy what follows down here!!!
I am extremely excited to write to you again!I am now at home for a short mid-term break which is taking three days only!School has been good and as a candidate I have learnt new ways of survival such as waking up early and sleeping late-at midnight- .Teachers have worked so hard to ensure syllabus coverage which they have completed actually.
There has been a lot of activities this term such as games and drama festivals.I participated in the drama festivals where I presented a choral verse with three of my classmates.Though we emerged position three in the competition, lack of backdrops on the stage denied us position two and one.It was a quite competitive item with about eighteen competitors.
I am very glad to inform you that my class is the best among all form four classes .This has been greatly attributed by our unity and discipline. Through this, teachers have decided to have the school captain from my class and other senior prefects in the school. My class is form four South.
I am very because of your great support in my education until now that am towards the completion of my high school education and making my dream of being a successful journalist a reality.
I am reporting back to school on Monday.I am also going to work so hard to brighten my future, the future of my family,my village,my country, the world and women who have no one to depend on in their daily endless troubles and trifles in their lives.
May the Almighty God in heaven bless you for your good support towards my education.
Bye!
Hi Sharon,
I am really excited because of the letter you sent to me.Thank you so much.
I am very glad that you realised that I participate in the Kenya connect Radio Read aloud Show.I have always found it a great fun!I usually call and answer questions each day.
Tomorrow I cannot miss it actually.I use my grandmothers telephone to make the call. Each Saturday she makes sure that her phone has enough airtime so that I can make a call. She gets so excited when am on the phone answering questions and speaking with the radio presenter.
I am excited that I am now a candidate.I am working very hard and reading much to acquire more knowledge.I have also participated in drama festivals this term.I was reciting a choral verse in swahili called "UPISHI" meaning "cooking" with some of my friends. In the verse ,water and fire were trying to compete on who to be added by the cook in the meal to make it delicious .At the end, due to too much disagreements between water and fire on who to be added by the cook made the cooking pot break into pieces. The verse was quite interesting and I enjoyed performing it on stage.
I am now working on an article about the Kenya Connect and I will be glad to present it to you soon.I have also some articles about the suffering of Kenyan women in the hands of merciless creatures who are using their power and might to threaten and mistreat women.
I am working hard in school and I have found school quite interesting.I am very glad to hear of your visit to Vermont and its my pleasure to once visit that city.
In Kenya it has rarely rained for the last few months but yesterday it rained heavily.Rivers had dried up and boreholes had began producing little or no water since the water table had been greatly affected by the drought.
Its my pleasure to hear more from you.
Thank you so much for sharing good and encouraging information with me.
Schools are resuming on Monday and it is my pleasure to continue reading more from you.
May God bless you.
Bye! bye!

Hi Sharon,
Hope you are extremely okay.I am very grateful to hear from you.I am very happy to receive a letter from you.I can still remember you when you used to come to my primary school ;that is Mbaikini primary.I am glad to hear that you were on a trip.Did you enjoy and take with you some souvenir to make you remember the trip?
Our country has a new president. His name is H.E. William Samoei Ruto. He is a very kind and warmhearted man.Immediately he was elected ,he announced new prices of fertilisers in the country.he did this to curb the disastrous deaths caused by drought and famine. He has assured the citizens a good government under his leadership. How are summers in your country? Here in Kenya they are usually hot and very dry.
I have been working extremely hard.I am greatly looking forward to getting the best results and join the best universities in the world.Next week I am going to be attending the library to read as many books as I can.I am looking forward to helping young women and see them emerge the heroines of the upcoming prosperous generation.
I am always annoyed when I see women and young girls being mistreated by some of the men. Some men do not seem to understand how important women are .They only decide to violate women's rights. They do not know what great things women can do.I am also glad to inform you that in my county the high positions are held by women. There are also about five elected women governors. This is an indication that women may be in a good position to be great people in future.
I am very happy to see the picture you sent me.How beautiful it is!Thank you so much.May the good Lord bless you for your support towards my studies.Thank you again.
Good bye!
Sijambo Syongwa!

I am excited that your classmates are calling you mtangazaj! We need more journalists in the world, especially women who can tell stories of the challenges that girls and women face. I think it's very exciting that you are anchoring news at events at your school. Public speaking is always hard (I still get nervous), but it is an important skill to have! If you every want to write an article for Kenya Connect let James or one of the staff know. I'd love to have a blog on our website by you!

I saw that the new Kenyan president was sworn in yesterday. I hope that he brings prosperity to your country. It will be interesting to see how he and the other newly elected officials do.

Recently my family and I went to Iceland on vacation. It's an interesting country with many geological features including geysers, Lava flows and volcanoes, glaciers, and mountains. It's very rugged and beautiful. We saw dozens of waterfalls too! Several of the nights we saw the northern lights which were beautiful and very magical. I've attached a pic of them.

It is becoming autumn in Maryland. The weather is becoming cooler and soon the leaves on the trees will change from green to orange, yellow, red and brown. It's usually quite beautiful. The apple crop is ready to pick as are pumpkins. It's a lovely time of the year in Maryland.

I hope you continue to work hard in school and keep writing. We need women like you who will tell the news and stories of the future!

Take care! Sharon (Mutanu)

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.

I have experience planting vegetables because my parents do that. Also, we have a garden at our home. Therefore, that is experience I have had in life. Apart from that experience, I also had a difficult experience when I failed my geography exam. That enabled me to learn how to cooperate with other students. I was so proud of myself when I performed well in my national exam. The memorable and happiest moment in my life will be when I reach my dream of being pilot. I will be so happy. My biggest dream is to be a pilot. I will get there through studying hard in physics, geography, and mathematics. After reaching my dream, I will help my parents to modify their cultivation system and to become professional farmers. From there they can expand the area of cultivation into a large plantation. Once I get a chance to have the power to change my country, I will build many airports in each region and some districts. This will help in the flexibility of transportation in my country.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.
