Syongwa is the first-born child in a family of four. She lives with her grandmother together with her siblings. Syongwa has been working hard in school. She has remained focused in achieving her dreams. Despite the challenges she faced in her primary education she managed to score exemplary marks. Her grandmother has remained to be her encouragement to do the best in school. Due to poverty her mother neglected the children and left them with their grandmother. Syongwa dreams to be a journalist in future in order to advocate for the plight of girls especially orphans in the media. She believes that hard work never goes unrewarded.

Hi donors,
How are you?I am going on well at school and am happy that my education is succesful at school.I have now found the school a better place for me.Following the happenings in most of the high schools in Kenya whereby some students have began putting on fire in school,the government under the ministry of education have announced a mid-term break for all schools which will take five days.Most boys schools have done this.Am happy that students in my school did not attempt such a horryfying activity.
I did not expect such an happening of getting back home.This break am going to read a novel from the library called "Morality for beautiful girls ".
I hope that you are going on well.I am going to get back to school on Tuesday and am looking back to hear from you all.Are you still taking care of yourselves from the Covid-19 disease also?Hope you are still taking great care.

Hi donors,
Hope you are going on well.I am also going on well since the last time I wrote to you.I am very glad to inform you that I am now at home for a short holiday which will be a great benefit to me especially in my studies.This term has being a very busy one and also a great experience to me since I joined a new class.I am very excited that am still going on well in my studies.
During this holiday I am going to improve my languages by reading alot of storybooks and novels.Of late I have read a book by the title Emulating parents written by Jane Ogore.This is a very ineresting autobiographic story as it has taught me how to go forward and reach my goal without giving up.I would also request you to read it and you will enjoy.
I hope you are excited about this and you will make great efforts to read much stories and am greatly anxious to hear from you about the most interesting novels you have ever read.
Take great care of your precious health of this deadly virus.To me the main vocabulary when going to public places is wearing a facemask.Hope you too are doing this.
I am going to report back to school on thirteenieth of this month and will be extremely prepared to begin my second term.I am greatly thanking you for your mighty support towards my bright future.
May the Almighty God grant you peace and harmony in all your doings and give you much strength to meet all the desires of your good and big hearts.

Hope you are extraordinarily good.I am super excited of being here again after school.I am now having a ten- days break and I will be back to school again.As I had informed you earlier I am joining my form two class next term.I am also very glad to inform you that I have performed extremely good in my end of term examination.
During this holiday I am going to work hard in my studies.This great dedication will be accompanied by participating in the Kenya Connect Radio read aloud session and also making a great use of the Kenya Connect library by borrowing books.
I am thankful to you all for sustaining me in school.I pray that the Almighty God may safeguard you from this deadly disease which is the Covid-19.I hope you are taking great care.Me too I am taking a good care of my health as well as my family members.

Hi donors,
Hope you are extremely okay.I am super excited of being back for a very short break which took three days.This short break I have concentrated much on my studies.I am going on well at school.I am also working extraordinarily hard to achieve my best in school.Today I am very excited because am going to get a prize from the Kenya Connect for participating and winning in The Radio Read Aloud on Saturday. This program is run by the Kenya Connect.I have been participating in the program since April and won several prices.I am also excited because tomorrow I am getting back to school.We are going to take about four weeks and then we will be back home for a short break which will last for about a week.Our country has changed the school calendar due to the Co vi d -19 pandemic.I am going to get to Form two class in July, that is next month.Hope you are excited about this.This C o v id 19 disease has changed almost everything in the country.I would also like to hear from you the impact brought to your country by this disease.

How are you for?Hope you are extremely good.I am very fine.
I am writing this letter to inform you that am very prepared for school. I am going back to school on Monday.Am very glad that you were also awaiting for my school ongoing.In this holiday I have extremely concentrated much in my studies to cover the syllabus and much revision as well.I am now ready to get the remaining percentage from my teachers.I am going to work extremely hard to achieve my goal.
I am very glad that you are still Covid -19 free.In our country people are dying of it and even their relatives have got tired of burying their loved ones till they have given the government a chance to bury them.This is a very sad story and we need to take care friends.Hope you are still taking great care as well .Bye! bye! friends.

How are you doing?Hope you are well.Am too doing on well.I am writing this letter to inform you that I am now at home for my holiday which is taking six weeks.I am doing good at school.At school we were used to wearing face masks and even sanitising our hands every time.We found it very difficult as we were not very used to it at the beginning and we did not like it very much.I am now very excited because I can stay wearing a face mask for a long time.
I am very shocked of this virus Covid -19 because it has killed many and its also still killing thousands of people including heads of states.Hope you are protecting yourselves from this deadly virus.I am too praying that God may guide and protect you from this virus.I am too protecting myself and wearing my face mask and even washing and sanitising my hands.May God bless you.Watch out and keep safe from this deadly virus.

How are you doing?Hope you are doing good.I am going on well.As you know the whole globe has been greatly affected by the hazardous and deadly virus which is the Covid -19.We as students were greatly affected by this and we stopped going to school .We found it hard to learn at home.I greatly thank Kenya Connect for it helped us as we used to learn through some of our fellow TSF students and they helped us much.The government announced that schools are going to open in January
and I am hereby very excited that I am going back to school on January seventh.We are going to have our facemasks and sanitizers.I am hereby greatly thanking you very much my beloved supporters for the great contribution towards my dream achievement.I am getting back to school on Thursday.I will work extraordinarily hard to achieve my best in school.I am aiming higher and the sky is my limit.Bye bye till we break for our holiday.May God bless you abundantly.I am also praying for God`s protection to you from this dangerous disease.Goodbye.

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.
