Thanks for your support and encouragement.May God bless you.I am following up Nelson's quote that"EDUCATION IS THE ONLY WEAPON THAT ONE CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD". This quote always encourage me towards achieving my goals and dreams.I also wish you a happy and blessed new year.

Looking forward to here from you again .Good bye!!!!
Hi Susan--

I'm glad you liked the canned fruit. I would like to show you how to do it. I am glad you are journaling and working hard in school. I would always be interested in seeing what you are writing. You can always share it with James and he will send it to me.

This week we are having Thanksgiving in the U.S. It's a time we gather with family around a big meal. Usually we have roast turkey, mashed potatoes, maize and other vegetables. We make pumpkin and apple pie too. It is a feast! We will be enjoying Thanksgiving with my mom and daughter and my husband's parents.

It is starting to become winter here. Last week we had some snow and this week the temperatures are going to be freezing. I actually like the cold and the snow. It's fun to be outside in it.

Keep up working hard in school. When you have trouble with the work, always ask your teacher to help you figure it out. Keep writing and reading too! Reading is really the key to success.

Thanks for writing! I always like hearing from you.
Hello Sharon,
I am doing well only that we have come for a short term break.I like writing very much.I have already written a spoken word and I am on my
way writing another. Hope it will be enjoyable if I sent it to you .

I have also been keeping journals for my future life.I like the way you can your food. I would like to know more about it.Would you mind to teach me when you visit Kenya Connect?
I am looking forward to here from you.
Susan
Oops. I forgot to send the picture of the peaches. Here it is!
Hello Susan!

It's so nice to hear from you! It's a very nice start to my day.

I don't think the Kenya Connect has the Henna Artist, but I will send it over in the future. Tonight I have 11 boxes being picked up to be shipped to Kenya Connect. They include books and other supplies. It usually takes about 3 months to arrive since they travel via container ships. One of the books in the shipment is a youth version of Michelle Obama's book.

Do you like to write? Do you keep a journal? It's a wonderful way to share your thoughts and to make plans for the future.

The summer growing season is coming to end. My husband and I have been canning fruits and vegetables for the winter. That means we cook them and then put in a jar which we process in boiling water. The jars then can be opened year round. It's a way to preserve chakula so it doesn't go bad. I've attached a picture of the peaches we canned. Peaches are sweet and fleshy, kind of like a maembe, but round and not as dense. I am doing an on-line Swahili class so I am learning some Kenyan words!

I hope your next term goes well. Keep reading books, listen to your teachers and dream big for the future!

Tutaonana Baadaye,
Sharon
Hello Sharon,
Hope you are doing fine there and am also fine.I have some favorite subjects but the most favorite one is C.R.E. However, I am working hard in all subjects for good grades.
This is not my last year in school. I am currently in a short holiday break after my fast term in form two.
Yes I do like reading and would like to read the book 'Henna artist' too which am currently looking for it in the Kenya Connect Library.

I would also like to visit US one day in future and see the beautiful mountains you sent me.
Thanks for your support in my studies and I promise to work hard as much as I can. I would like to share with you some of my experiences here in Kenya when you visit and I believe it will be a wonderful experience seeing you.I am looking forward to hear from you again.
Goodbye and have a nice time.
Hello Susan! I hope your school year is going well. Is this your final year? Do you have a favorite subject?

My husband and I just went hiking in the mountains of New York State. We hiked up 5 mountains for a total of 64 kilometers. We had some gorgeous views of other mountains once we reached the top. I've attached a picture. It is autumn in the U.S. which means the leaves in the northeast of the U.S. are starting to change colors. They go from green to orange, red and yellow. It's very beautiful.

I read like reading a lot. I just finished a book called the Henna Artist which was set in India. It's about the beautiful designs that Henna Artists paint on women's hands and feet. It was an interesting story and I learned more about India from reading it. Do you like to read?

I am hoping to visit Kenya Connect in 2022. If I do, it would be wonderful to see you.

Take care and keep working hard in school and read as much as possible.

Hello Susan--

It is so good to hear from you! I heard that the virus numbers have increased in Kenya. I continue to pray for your country. I have gotten vaccinated to help prevent the disease for me an others. I'm hoping that more vaccine reaches Kenya soon.

It is spring in Maryland which means that the temperatures are warmer and the trees have been flowering and leafing out. We have different flowers in our yard blooming too. It's such a beautiful time of the year. We have also planted a vegetable garden with tomatoes, peppers, radishes, and aubergine.

I am currently reading a book about a village in England in 1066. It's been interesting learning about that time period and how people lived. Are you reading any books? What types of books do you like?

I've attached a picture of some daffodils in front of the church I attend. It's a beautiful flower that blooms each year.

Take care, keep studying, and read as much as possible. Sharon

Hello Susan,

My name is Lydia, and I am so glad to have gotten connected with you. I live in Singapore, which is a very small country in Asia, and like you, I was born in 2004. I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your mother but I find it so inspirational that you want to work in medicine because of it. You seem like a very smart girl and I hope that you will be able to one day fulfill your dream of becoming a neurosurgeon.

I wanted to send my best wishes to you with the pandemic at the moment. I was wondering how the virus is where you are and if you are able to attend school at the moment because of it? My school had actually shut down in March, but we are back at school now.

I really admire your positivity and energy towards learning, I have no doubt that you will be able to achieve what you hope for in the future if you continue to work as hard as you are now,

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Lydia

Experiences in my life are when I failed my examination during primary education and also when my parents failed to pay food for me. My difficult experiences in my life are when my parents have insufficient enough money to pay for all my basic needs at school such as food and other school contributions. The thing that makes me feel so proud of myself is when I succeeded in joining O-level education. This makes me feel that I will, I must, I can do everything. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life will be to reach my dream of being a doctor general so as I can help other people in society. My future dream is to be a GOOD surgical doctor. After me reaching my dream, I will give back help to my society and family, but also to WEF. I need to work hard upon reaching my dream in my life. Once I get chance to have power of changing anything in country, I will improve the education system by converting science subjects from theory to practical. In most of our schools, they teach science subjects mostly theoretically. I will start from there because as we know education is the key to every success in our people.

Notable experiences in my life are, first, passing my standard seven examination and, second, entering secondary school. My most difficult experience was when I started to learn English. I have learned that if you want to do something, you have to work hard. I felt proud was when I entered secondary school. My most memorable and happiest thoughts are from when I celebrated at my birthday party. My dream is to be an electrical engineer. I will get there through studying hard and doing well in science subjects. If I had the power to change my country, I would like to improve the electricity supply especially in rural areas because there are shortages of electric power.

The experience that I had early in life was to score good marks in my class, whereby I got good grades which encouraged me to study hard in class. The difficult experience that occurred in my life was an accident on my way back home. I learnt that I should not play again in bad areas. In my life I am proud of myself. I was getting low marks in class but now I have managed to improve a lot. The most memorable and happiest thing in my life is to play football. It exercises my body regularly and hence strengthens my body system. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. The best way to reach it is through studying hard in school, in physics, mathematics and chemistry. If I had power in my country, I would change the education system of the country so that it helps graduates to depend more on self-employment.
